North Harbour Club

North Harbour Club The North Harbour Club celebrates and supports local youth through the AIMES Youth Excellence Awards, granting $3.4M+ since 1995.

With 250+ passionate members, we champion business, sport, education, and community in the region. The North Harbour Club is an association of Auckland’s North Harbour/Shore leaders in local affairs, business, education, sport and social development. Members of the club, who are all residents or have their businesses in the North Harbour area, have, among other stated aims, the desire to promote e

xcellence by encouraging and providing financial assistance to the young people of the North Harbour region who have significant ability in their chosen field and display personal characteristics which make them worthy of our support. The annual AIMES Awards are the highest-profile face of the North Harbour Club, but the objectives are five-fold:

To establish and maintain a club of non-political character for Members to meet through regular lunches and social activities. To establish a charitable trust, known as The North Harbour Club Charitable Trust, to promote and develop local talent in the fields covered by the AIMES Awards. To support cultural, sporting and recreational activities in the region. To foster a spirit of pride in the region. To foster a ‘good neighbour’ and ‘good citizen’ ethos in the region. Membership of the North Harbour Club returns benefits to Members as well as the youth the Club chooses to reward. A series of luncheons throughout the year, each with a high-quality guest speaker, are calendar highlights, allowing Members to mix and mingle while enjoying good food and fine wine. In this way Members receive an opportunity to meet each other, entertain clients and help our outstanding young achievers advance their careers at the same time.

A really special visit into the city today…

Joan Finlayson, her daughter Catherine Jenkins and I had the pleasure of spending time with our newest sponsors, SFS Private Wealth, at their stunning Customs Street West offices… complete with incredible 180-degree views across the harbour.

What made it even more meaningful was hearing Joan share the story of how she and Ross founded the North Harbour Club back in 1995… a full-circle moment as SFS Private Wealth come on board as sponsors of the Ross Finlayson Legacy Award for Youth Leadership.

We also loved hearing from Jason Leithwaite and Taryn Welch about their exciting new chapter… launching their business here in New Zealand and already making their mark.

Partnerships like this are what keep the Club moving forward… connecting great people, sharing stories, and supporting the next generation of young achievers.

We’re so looking forward to welcoming SFS Private Wealth further into the Club community… watch this space.

We want to take a moment to thank our incredible sponsors of the North Harbour Club’s Social Circle … your support truly makes this series what it is.

Social Circle is all about bringing people together through fun, activity-based events … creating real connections in a relaxed, engaging way. It’s networking, but done differently … and done well.

The impact goes even further … every dollar raised is helping support North Harbour youth to achieve excellence through the annual Youth Excellence Awards programme.

That’s connection with purpose … and it simply couldn’t happen without you.

Thank you for backing something that brings our community together while making a genuine difference.

If others are curious to learn more about the North Harbour Club, membership or upcoming events … we’d love to have you come along and experience it for yourself.

What a morning…

Over 100 people joined us at the North Harbour Club's BEN (Business Excellence Network) Breakfast today to hear from the incredibly generous and insightful Eric Faesenkloet… and wow, did he deliver.

From the moment he started, the room was hooked. Eric shared candid stories about stepping into leadership at Bond & Bond and building The Golf Warehouse NZ… not just the wins, but the instincts, risks and tough calls that sit behind real success.

One story that really stuck…
Eric shared how Wyclef Jean once stopped to ask a homeless man how to get to Carnegie Hall.
The response? … “Practice, practice, practice.”
Simple… but powerful ... and that’s exactly what Eric brings into business.

If you want to be good at something… don’t overthink it… don’t wait… just start putting in the reps.

What really landed overall was his take on trust, gut instinct and backing yourself. In a world full of noise and overthinking, his message was clear… trust your people, trust your gut, and don’t be afraid to make the call.

Because at the end of the day… confidence doesn’t come from thinking about it. It comes from doing it… again and again.

Huge thanks to everyone who came along and made the room what it was… the energy, the conversations, the connections afterwards… that’s what the Club is all about.

And to Eric… thank you for showing up so openly and giving our community so much to take away.

If you were there… what’s something you’re going to practice more of after today? Drop it below 👇

Thanks to Lloyd Kirby our emcee for the day, from (event sponsor) RSM New Zealand and their fellow sponsors - NZ Funds, Schnauer and Co Lawyers, Westpac, Tristram Auckland ... and to the team at Regatta Bar & Eatery for the gourmet breakfasts; and to Benefitz for all the design and print.

☕️ What is the North Harbour Club & Charitable Trust all about?

Next Thursday… we’re opening the doors for a relaxed Coffee & Conversation morning — a great chance to come along, meet some of our members, and hear first-hand how the Club supports and celebrates youth excellence in our community.

Whether you’ve been thinking about getting more involved, or know someone who would love to connect with like-minded people doing great things on the North Shore, this is the perfect informal setting to join us.

Coffee, tea and pastries are on us (thanks to Pie Funds for hosting)… just bring yourself, and feel free to invite a friend, colleague or guest along who you think would enjoy being part of the Club too.
