Our final week of our Bounceback4Syria project has wrapped. Our primary data shows that children who have experienced displacement can struggle with managing emotions, coping with fear of new things and interacting with their peers. With your help, we have watched our students try new challenges, cooperate with one another and express themselves.

The results of Relief Aid's Bounce Back 4 Syria programme were significant:

❤️Children realised it was ok to ask for help.

❤️Children participated enthusiastically and learned about their friends.

❤️Children were patient with each other and showed leadership.

With their new skills, they can continue to learn, play, participate in sport, get creative and look after one another.

Who taught you how to keep going when things got hard?

For many of us, it was a grandparent or an elder: someone who had lived through difficult times and carried on anyway.

This International Day of Older Persons, we're thinking of older people living through conflict and crisis. Many have lived through hard times before.

In a crisis, older people are often the last to be reached. Reaching safety, clean water or medical care is harder when you're less mobile.

Older people are part of the communities we work with every day, from families receiving clean water in Gaza to households repairing their homes before winter in Ukraine.

They aren't only people who need support. They hold families and communities together, and they carry the stories, knowledge and patience that help people get through.

Today, we honour them. 🤍

📚 At BounceBack4Syria, we’re creating safe spaces where children can learn and build the skills they need to thrive.

Through activities, games and time together, children are developing skills that extend beyond the programme — learning how to communicate, work with others, express their feelings, solve problems and set goals for the future.

Here are some of our observations from week 5:

✏️ Children who play together develop friendships— building connection, communication and a sense of belonging.

✏️ Children who participate inspire others to learn — showing how courage and confidence can encourage their peers to get involved.

✏️ Children who feel supported learn to trust their feelings — and each other — creating a stronger foundation for learning and development.

These moments matter. Education isn't only about what happens in a classroom. For children affected by conflict and displacement, creating safe opportunities to learn, connect and build confidence can be an important part of moving forward.

Week 6 is the final week of the program, with the children focusing on goal setting— helping them think about what they want to achieve and the steps they can take to get there. ❤️
