Alhamdulillah, we are almost there — now only 10 more families/people are needed to complete this mission.

If 10 people give $2,400, we can fully clear the remaining amount, pay the vendor, and prevent a mortgagee sale of Hillsborough Masjid.

*Moonsighting & Picnic Iftar*
Moonsighting will take place at Mt Roskill Summit, with a family picnic iftar.
Everyone is encouraged to attend and bring their children.
Please bring your own iftar.
No masjid iftar this weekend.

*Taraweeh*
Taraweeh continues, with a new khatm beginning — to be completed gradually in Fajr & ‘Isha.

Our Eid prayer will be with NZ Eid Day, joining the wider community in this beautiful Sunnah:

The nights are passing quickly — and we are now in the final stretch.

Alhamdulillah, so much has been given — now only 20 more families/people are needed to complete this effort.

If 20 people give $2,400, we can fully raise the remaining amount needed to pay the vendor and prevent a mortgagee sale of Hillsborough Masjid.

Tonight is the 27th night of Ramadan, widely hoped to be Layla tul Qadr — a night better than a thousand months.

Alhamdulillah, the community has come together — but 50 more families/people are still needed to complete the final push.

If 50 people give $2,400, we can raise the remaining amount needed to pay the vendor and prevent a mortgagee sale of Hillsborough Masjid.

Tonight could be Laylatul Qadr — imagine the reward of helping secure a masjid where salah, Qur’an, and community will continue for generations.

As-salāmu ʿalaykum wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh,

Tomorrow is the 27th night of Ramadhān, which is likely to be Laylatul Qadr. It is also our Qur'an of khatam night.

We would like to invite you to join the programme.

Iftar and dinner will be provided by a local family at the masjid. Thereafter, we will pray ʿIshāʾ and Tarāwīḥ, without any talk in the middle.

After Tarāwīḥ, we will have the khatam duʿāʾ, followed by Witr. After Witr, we will recite the Khatm al-Qurʾān duʿāʾ of Imām ʿAlī Zayn al-ʿĀbidīn.

This will encompass the completion of the Qur’an in Tarāwīḥ as well as the other completions of the Qur’an that have been done by members of the community, and we will formally close them off at that time.

To conclude, there will be a short reminder and some nasheeds.

Both brothers and sisters are welcome and encouraged to commemorate this special night.

May Allah accept it from all of us. Āmīn.

Alhamdulillah.

Just in time for the last ten nights of Ramadan, the new masjid carpet has now been laid.

Beautifully crafted Persian carpets, woven with elegant geometric patterns, now cover the prayer space — prepared for the sajdah, duʿā’, and quiet moments of worship that fill these blessed nights.

Because of the generosity of this community, every prayer made here, every forehead placed in sujood, and every child learning Qur’an on this carpet will carry ongoing reward — sadaqah jariyah, bi’ithnillah.

May Allah accept from everyone who contributed and allow these carpets to witness countless prayers for generations to come Ameen.

Battle of Badr Commemoration & Iftar – Ramadan 1447

Date: Saturday, 7 March 2026
Iftar: Full meal iftar provided
Commemoration Time:* During the 8th Rakʿah Taraweeh Break
Location: Hillsborough Masjid (2B Quona Ave, Hillsborough)

Please join us for our annual commemoration of the Great Battle of Badr, which took place on the 17th of Ramadan. This is the Decisive Day when Allah gave victory to His Beloved Prophet ﷺ and the Companions رضي الله عنهم. The Battle of Badr was a turning point for the entire Ummah, and there are many lessons to be learned from the events that took place.

Commemorating events from the life of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) gives life to our hearts, strengthens our faith, and inspires within us love, reverence, and dedication.

This short program will take place during the break after the 8th Rakʿah of Taraweeh. For this evening, the break will be extended to approximately 30 minutes to allow time for the commemoration program, reflections, devotional poetry, and duʿa, insha’Allah.

This Programme and Iftar is dedicated to a pillar of our community, Sayeda Dadabhai, who passed away a few weeks ago. May Allah grant her to be amongst the highest dwellers of Paradise Ameen.
