The Sir Murray Halberg Legacy Award, in partnership with Cityfitness, recognises an individual whose contribution has made a meaningful and lasting difference to disabled young people through sport, recreation or play.

🔵 It could be a coach.
🔵 An advocate.
🔵 A programme leader.
🔵 A volunteer.
🔵 A person who saw barriers and decided to do something about it.

This year, we're proud to introduce the Bunnings Community Sport Volunteer Award as part of the 64th ISPS Handa Halberg Awards.

Because behind every team, every athlete and every sporting journey are people who give their time, energy and passion to make it all possible.

The coaches. The club volunteers. The orginsers. The fundraisers. The officials. The people who are there week after week, creating opportunities for others to participate, connect and thrive through sport.

In partnership with Bunnings, this new award will celebrate an outstanding volunteer who has made a meaningful difference to their local sporting community 🏉🏸

On Wednesday 17 February 2027, New Zealand’s sporting world will come together at Spark Arena, Auckland, for an unforgettable evening celebrating another remarkable year of sporting excellence.

The Halberg Awards recognise the athletes, teams, coaches and individuals whose achievements have inspired the nation and made their mark on New Zealand sport.

Expect an evening of celebration, inspiring stories, world-class entertainment and unforgettable sporting moments — while supporting the Halberg Foundation and our work creating an inclusive sporting future for young New Zealanders with physical disabilities.

Celebrating New Zealand's Sporting Achievements 🏆🌿 Congratulations to all the New Zealand athletes who proudly represented our country at the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

With 36 medals secured for New Zealand, the Games were a remarkable showcase of talent, determination and sporting excellence on the international stage 🏅🇳🇿
