As a final fishing trip before our mate packed his bags and headed off to Aussie, a few of us made the journey north to the iconic 90 Mile Beach for one last mission together. The plan was simple—good mates, good laughs, and hopefully a few fish to send him off in style.
Fishing the wash with fresh mullet cutlets, the Assassin Bluefish paired with a Penn Spinfisher 6500, loaded with 40lb braid and an 80lb leader, was the perfect setup for the conditions. Rigged with a BKK circle hook, it wasn’t long before the rod folded over and this beautiful snapper came to the party.
The fish put up a solid scrap in the rough terrain before finally sliding onto the rocks. As the day went on, the action stayed consistent, with several more quality snapper finding their way into the bin, making for an epic session and a fitting send-off.
Sometimes it’s not just about the fish. It’s about the memories made with good mates, the stories shared on the rocks, and the adventures that remind us why we love this sport. Filling the bin was a bonus, but spending one last session together before our mate starts his new chapter across the ditch made the trip one to remember.
