Sometimes you don’t need a crew. You need a plan, the right gear and the balls to execute it.

Make the plan. Execute the plan. Get results.

This mission was locked and loaded with the Assassin Horizon XXH, paired with a Penn Slammer IV 8500, loaded with 65lb JDB Braid and finished with 220lb JDB DNA braided leader.

On the business end — a Mustad Monster Circle ready for whatever bronzie decided to pick up the bait.

There’s something different about doing it solo. Every decision, every run and every battle is on you. No crew to rely on — just you, your gear and the fish.

Luckily, I had my fishing buddy Marlin, my pooch, there with me, along with my fiancée Tanya, who was more of a spectator 🤣, and the random cameraman Norm, helping capture the action!

After a few quick pics, the fish was safely tagged and released, ready to swim off strong and continue its journey.

Throwing nice little rapala style lure in hope of getting a kahawai/Aussi salmon when this Queenie decided to volunteer as tribute. Was a great fight on the Assassin Infinity Light but ultimately no match for the pulling power of this great little set up

Casting iron candy's into bait schools to try and get a reaction bite when this long tom took a swipe at my lure. An easy fight on the Assassin spin tech but a cool new species to tick off.

South Island turned on some proper conditions to test the Assassin gear from .co.nz. The Edge II rod came into its own, with a few beautiful little rainbows landed, while the all season jacket kept me warm and dry all day.

Fishing the wash with micro softbaits looking for live baits, this Butterbream decided my daiwa bait ju**ie grub looked like lunch. Luckily for him I wasn't looking for lunch myself. I was using a 2.5in grub in Tagasaki on a bait ju**ie 2X 1/16oz jig. With my Assassin Infinity Light and Shimano Stradic.

Shark Lands Itself. 😮🦈
Its not everyday a shark hooks, fights AND lands itself 😂. Assassin Beach Master II and Penn Fathom 40 SD were so impressive, this Fraser Island 80kg Black Tip, just had to come take a closer look.
