Habitat for Humanity Northern is a registered housing provider that addresses substandard housing and housing access for individuals and families from Cape Reinga to the Bombays. From Cape Reinga to the Bombays our work supports local whānau into affordable and healthy homes through essential repairs, renovation, advocacy and education. All donations and volunteer support are essential in improving the health and well-being of our communities.

In May, we shared how the AMI Insurance team showed up for us, and they've done it again! 🙌

On 11 June, seven AMI volunteers rolled up their sleeves and helped paint Sheryl's home in Clevedon alongside our Habitat for Humanity Northern Region team. 🎨🏡

Over the years, AMI's team has contributed thousands of volunteer hours alongside us — and every single one makes a difference. This is what partnership in action truly looks like: not just a logo on a page, but people showing up, getting their hands dirty, and helping build stronger communities alongside us.

It’s National Volunteer Week and we’re celebrating the incredible people behind our mission 💙

At Habitat for Humanity, our volunteers are the heart of everything we do. Their generosity, time and commitment make it possible for us to support whānau into safe, healthy housing across Aotearoa.

From building and repairing items in our pallet project, sewing curtains for families in our curtain bank, to sorting donations in our ReStore op shops, every act of service helps create lasting change in our communities. It’s mahi that truly makes a difference.

This week, we’ve been proud to celebrate our volunteers across our programmes and op shops, hosting morning teas each day as a small token of our appreciation.

To all our volunteers, thank you for showing up, giving back, and standing alongside us. We couldn’t do it without you.

🏡 Time for an update on our Maunu Road development – soon to be home for 26 seniors in Whangārei.

Last week, we welcomed Whangarei District Council councillors for a site visit, with progress now well and truly underway.

Next week, our build and design teams will celebrate a key milestone, with all roofing completed and installed – a huge step forward.

We’re on track to deliver safe, affordable and accessible homes for older people in our community very soon.

Construction is continuing to take shape at 469 State Highway 14, Maunu, Whangārei, where Habitat for Humanity Northern 26-home senior housing development is continuing to take shape ahead of its planned August completion.

Despite challenging weather conditions in recent months, local crews have maintained strong momentum, with framing, roofing and exterior works progressing across the site - bringing safe, affordable homes closer for seniors in Te Tai Tokerau.

From Aotearoa to Vietnam – Building Homes, Building Hope 🇻🇳

Last week, Habitat for Humanity Northern team members Carina (Housing Manager) and Cam (Housing Adequacy Programme Manager), alongside volunteer Chris, travelled to Da Nang to take part in a Global Village build with Habitat for Humanity Vietnam.

Together, they helped build a safe new home for Ms. Sen and her three young children, supporting her dream of a secure, stable future.

It’s incredible to see our Habitat whānau coming together across borders, bringing not just practical support, but compassion, connection, and hope.

It’s been one year since three incredible wahine toa moved into their new 3‑bedroom homes in Tikipunga, beginning their homeownership journeys. Over the past year, they’ve built stability, created space for their whānau to thrive, and made these houses their own. 🏠💛
