It was awesome to engage with tertiary students at an Auckland University Global Studies Society club event last night to promote our Responding to Armed Conflict (REACT) education programme! Great work Jessica, Ugnė and Team!

Learning about nuclear disarmament and global conflict resolution through a fun quiz night was a great way to start our Peace Foundation collaboration with Auckland University and we look forward to more events in the future!

The Peace Foundation is proud to be connected with Julie and team.

This is an exciting project that will pilot a peace curriculum across 9 schools, and is open to international expressions of interest - this is education for global peace in action!

🌍 Calling educators worldwide!

Applications are now open for an international pilot of the Peaceful Classroom Guide — a peace and global education curriculum developed by PeacEd Gateway (Education for Global Peace) and research study in partnership with Arizona State University.

We are seeking 9 classroom-based educators from around the world to participate in an 8–10 week curriculum implementation and pilot study taking place between September and the end of November 2026 (with permission process beginning in August).

We are inviting educators working with learners in these developmental levels:
🌱 Emerging (Primary/Elementary): Ages 7–9
🪴 Intermediate (Lower Secondary): Ages 10–13
🌳 Advanced (Upper Secondary): Ages 14–18

Participation can take place during regular school hours or in extended learning spaces, such as after-school programs.

Selected educators will collaborate with global peers, empower students as change agents, and receive a $575 honorarium for full participation.

If you believe education can help cultivate peace within ourselves, with each other, and with our planet, we invite you to apply.

📅 Apply by July 26

The Peace Foundation is always looking for new ways to grow, engage, and connect more rangatahi with our programmes! 🌱

Over the past few months, we’ve been working alongside the incredible team at ThinkPod, a student consulting group from the University of Auckland, to discuss potential engagement strategies for our REACT programme - an interactive workshop for youth on nuclear disarmament, armed conflict, and peacebuilding. 🕊

ThinkPod presented their impressive research report to some of our team on Thursday. 👏

A huge thank you to ThinkPod for all their awesome mahi and a big shout out to our Youth Programme Assistant, Jessica, for liaising for this valuable project. 🤝

We’re excited to explore how we can put these strategies into place!

What a privilege it was for us to deliver Leadership through Peer Mediation training at Papatoetoe High School on Friday!

The depth of thinking demonstrated by the amazing Rangatahi we met and the positive reception our kaupapa received from Jewels and some of her Kaimahi Team who attended made our day together very special.

We look forward to seeing how this amazing group of Peace Ambassador Rangatira journey together within and for their beautiful kura!

We had such an awesome Cool Schools Peer Mediation Training with the Year 7 & 8 Ākonga and Kaimahi Team at St Joseph's School in Ashburton on Wednesday this week!

What a privilege it is for us to work with a Kura that prioritises our impactful kaupapa!

Tracy Scott, one of our Peace Foundation Facilitators, loved engaging with these amazing young people, and saw a lot of great Rangatiratanga potential in this great group of Ākonga. 💖

Please reach out to us at [email protected] if you are a kura (Primary or Secondary) in Te Waipounamu, and would like to know more about how we can support you to start a Cool Schools or Leadership through Peer Mediation programme.

We have a Team of Facilitators ready to explore how we can support your journey with our impactful programmes. 😃

Our Peace Foundation Facilitator based in Ōtautahi, Tracy Scott, ran an excellent Mediators' Big Day Out event on Tuesday this week! 💖

Peer Mediators from Lyttleton Primary School, Te Raekura Redcliffs School, Middleton Grange, Opawa School, and Tai Tapu School came together to share their mahi through presentations they had prepared, learn alongside each other, and participate in fun activities and games that they brought along for everyone to enjoy. This year's event was smaller than usual but this did not stop us from having BIG fun, celebrating our impact as Peer Mediators, and engaging with inspirational learning! 😃

It was also great to have Dianna Cotter, our new Head of Peace Education for our Peace Foundation, join us this year. (PS, she would love you to create and send in videos of your own hip hop dances / raps with a Peace Message!)✌️

Thank you to our Key Note Speaker, Peace Foundation Youth Programme Coordinator, Olivia Shimasaki, for an awesome Primary School REACT presentation, that helped us all learn more about Personal Peace, Interpersonal Peace, and Community Peace.

Thank you Lyttleton Primary School Tumuaki, Jenny Felton, for being our fabulous host for this year's event, and a Big Thank You to the fabulous Cool Schools Coordinators and Whānau who supported our event on the day.

We appreciate everyone in our Te Waipounamu Cool Schools Whānau, whether you were able to join us this year or not - keep up the great job that you all do in your Kura to facilitate safer and more peaceful school communities through Cool Schools Peer Mediation. 🕊

The Peace Foundation was privileged to have Ratanak NA (Nak) from Cambodia join us for part of his internship in New Zealand from March to May through the Cambodia Laos Young Leaders Programme.

Nak shared that one of the most meaningful experiences for him was joining us for our Auckland Cool Schools Coordinators' Workshop in March, where he got to learn how our Cool Schools Peer Mediation programme empowers young people to solve their own problems in peaceful ways.

We are looking forward to seeing how Nak now applies his learning with us to train and support youth leaders and teachers in Cambodia through his project: Young Peace Leaders for Sustainable Peacebuilding in Battambang Community.

Together, our peace mahi is having impact internationally and we are very proud of what you are achieving with your community Nak!
