Strengthening Conflict-Sensitive Climate Adaptation for Sustainable Peace

Elohim Development Foundation was represented at the Training and Inclusive Consultative Learning Session on Conflict-Sensitive Climate Adaptation Practices, organized by International Alert and facilitated by Associate Professor Alfred Aoandona Jimin of Joseph Sarwuan Tarka University.

The session deepened participants’ understanding of how climate adaptation interventions can be designed to prevent conflict and promote peace. It provided practical tools for conflict-sensitive programming, emphasized inclusive and participatory approaches, and reinforced the importance of Do No Harm principles. Discussions also explored strategies for addressing climate-driven tensions, particularly around resource competition, while ensuring sustainable and peace-oriented outcomes.

Strengthening partnerships for better health outcomes in Benue State.

Elohim Development Foundation joined other key stakeholders at the RMNCAH Technical Working Group Inaugural/Reactivation Meeting held at the Benue State Ministry of Health & Human Services Conference Hall. The engagement reinforced the collective commitment to improving the health and wellbeing of women, children, and adolescents through coordinated action, data-driven planning, and sustained collaboration.

With the formal inauguration of the TWG and renewed stakeholder alignment, this marks a critical step toward strengthening coordination, accountability, and service delivery across the state’s health sector. Together, we are building a more responsive and resilient RMNCAH system for Benue State.

Together, we move closer to a healthier Benue.

EDF joined partners to commemorate Good Deeds Day at Abagena IDP Camp, Agan, Makurdi, Benue State, marking a purposeful start to the new month.

Aligned with the theme, “Promoting Hygiene and Nutrition Awareness among Internally Displaced Persons in Benue State to Enhance Community Resilience,” the engagement focused on practical sessions on nutrition and conversations around kindness in situations of displacement and limited resources. The activity also included the distribution of nutritious food packs and boiled eggs for children, contributing to improved dietary support within the camp.

The engagement created space for meaningful interaction with residents, highlighting their resilience and the strength of community even in challenging conditions.

We appreciate our partners, sponsors, and camp management for their collaboration in making this intervention possible. EDF remains committed to supporting & promoting well-being and strengthening community resilience.

Wouldn’t we rather just talk?

Not every disagreement has to turn into distance or conflict. Sometimes, all it takes is a willingness to slow down, truly listen, and seek to understand before being understood.

Dialogue doesn’t mean we agree on everything, it means we value peace and respect enough to try. In that space, walls begin to fall, bridges are built, voices are heard, and what once felt like division can become an opportunity for growth, healing, and change.

Peace doesn’t just happen; it begins when someone is willing to speak, listen, and stay at the table. Be that person, start the conversation today.

Strengthening Community Security Through Local Commitment – March Update

As we move closer to the conclusion of the Empowering Community Security (ECOS) Project, activities carried out across Benue State and Nasarawa State throughout March have highlighted the strength of community ownership and collaboration that has defined this journey.

Our Field Staff, Peace Ambassadors, and Community Peace Committees (CPCs) continued to engage communities through dialogue sessions, reflections on progress, and activities supporting Early Warning and Early Response (EWER) and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). These engagements have helped reinforce local structures, deepen trust, and ensure that communities remain equipped to sustain the gains of the project.

As the project nears its end, we are proud of the dedication, resilience, and commitment demonstrated by community actors and our partners who have worked tirelessly to make the ECOS Project a success. Together, we have strengthened community-led security efforts, supported psychosocial resilience, and built foundations that will continue to promote peace and safety beyond the life of the project.
