DEDASRI at Enugu's Climate & Development Finance Investment Platform (CDFIP)

We are delighted to participate in the Operationalisation of Enugu State's Climate & Development Finance Investment Platform (CDFIP), an important initiative that reflects the Enugu State Government's commitment to unlocking climate finance, promoting renewable energy, advancing climate-smart agriculture, and driving sustainable development.

As an organisation whose mandate includes Environment & Climate Change, Inclusive Governance, and Integrated Human Development, DEDASRI is pleased to contribute to conversations that strengthen climate resilience, mobilise investments, and create sustainable opportunities for communities across the South East.

We commend His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, and the Enugu State Government for taking bold, practical steps to position Enugu as the South East hub for climate finance, green investments, and sustainable development. This forward-looking approach will not only accelerate the state's development but also create a model that can be replicated across the region.

DEDASRI remains committed to partnering with government, development partners, the private sector, and civil society to transform systems for sustainable development and growth.

Still on activities to commemorate the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons...

In continuation of activities marking the 2026 World Day Against Trafficking in Persons, themed "Human Trafficking is Organized Crime – End the Exploitation," DEDASRI joined Naptip Nigeria alongside ICMPD, the Enugu State Legal Hub for Victims of Trafficking in Persons, and other civil society organisations for a public sensitisation campaign at Abakpa Market, Enugu, on 28 July 2026.

The awareness campaign reached traders, transport operators, and members of the public with vital information on the realities of human trafficking, the tactics employed by trafficking networks, how to identify and report suspected cases, and the collective responsibility of communities in preventing exploitation.

At DEDASRI, we believe that sustained awareness, strong partnerships, and community action are essential to dismantling trafficking networks and protecting vulnerable persons.

Together, we can end human trafficking and restore hope to survivors!

Taking the Fight Against Human Trafficking to the Heart of Our Communities

Markets are more than places of trade, they are powerful spaces for education, awareness, and community action.

On Thursday, 23rd July 2026, the Divine Era Development and Social Rights Initiative (DEDASRI), in collaboration with Naptip Nigeria and the Enugu State Ministry of Education, carried out an intensive sensitisation campaign at Gariki Market, Enugu, under the School Anti-Trafficking Education and Advocacy Project (STEAP).

The outreach engaged traders, buyers, artisans, transport operators, and other market users on the prevention of Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Violence Against Persons (VAP). Participants learned how to identify common trafficking tactics, recognise warning signs of exploitation and abuse, protect children and other vulnerable persons, verify suspicious job and travel offers, and report suspected cases through the appropriate channels.

To reinforce these messages, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials were distributed across the market, extending the campaign's reach to approximately 2,500 people.

At DEDASRI, we believe that awareness is one of the strongest tools for preventing human trafficking and violence. By taking these conversations directly to communities, we are empowering citizens to become vigilant, informed, and active partners in protecting the vulnerable.

We appreciate the collaboration of International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), NAPTIP, the Enugu State Ministry of Education, market leadership, and all stakeholders who contributed to the success of this outreach.

Together, we can prevent trafficking, end violence, and build safer communities for everyone.

Raising Awareness, Protecting Lives at New Market, Enugu, 21st July, 2026

Communities become safer when people are informed. That is why Divine Era Development and Social Rights Initiative continues to take anti-trafficking awareness directly to the grassroots.

Under the School Anti-Trafficking Education and Advocacy Project (STEAP), DEDASRI conducted a sensitisation campaign at New Market, Enugu, educating traders, market leaders, artisans, transport operators, and shoppers on the prevention of Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Violence Against Persons (VAP).

The interactive sessions highlighted common trafficking tactics, warning signs of exploitation and abuse, practical safeguarding measures, and the importance of reporting suspected cases through the appropriate authorities. Participants were encouraged to remain vigilant and play an active role in protecting children and other vulnerable persons within their communities.

To sustain the awareness beyond the outreach, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials were distributed across the market, extending the campaign's prevention messages to approximately 1,400 people.

At DEDASRI, we believe that awareness is the foundation of prevention. By engaging communities where they live and work, we are building a network of informed citizens committed to ending human trafficking and violence.

Together, we can protect the vulnerable, prevent exploitation, and create safer communities for all.

Empowering Christian Women to Protect Families and Communities

Women are powerful agents of change. When they are equipped with the right knowledge, they become the first line of defence against Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Violence Against Persons (VAP).

As part of our commitment under the School Anti-Trafficking Education and Advocacy Project (STEAP), Divine Era Development and Social Rights Initiative (DEDASRI), alongside ICMPD Enugu staff, participated in the WOWICAN Enugu State General Meeting at The Redemption Church Worldwide, Enugu, following an invitation from the Secretary, State Task Force (STF) on Trafficking in Persons who doubles as the Chairperson of the group.

The invitation was a positive outcome of DEDASRI's earlier engagement with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Enugu State, and our growing collaboration with the State Task Force on Trafficking in Persons.

During the interactive sensitisation, 76 women were equipped with practical knowledge on preventing human trafficking and violence, recognising common trafficking tactics, identifying warning signs, protecting children and other vulnerable persons, and reporting suspected cases through the appropriate channels.

To extend the impact beyond the meeting, Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials were distributed, enabling participants to continue raising awareness within their churches, families, and communities.

We sincerely appreciate the leadership of WOWICAN Enugu State, the State Task Force on Trafficking in Persons, and International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) for their collaboration and shared commitment to building safer communities.

Together, we can empower women, protect the vulnerable, and end human trafficking and violence in our communities.
