Society for the Improvement of Rural People (SIRP) is a community based organization; that seeks to address issues affecting various vulnerable and less privileged groups in Nigeria. This includes children, youth, women, persons living with disabilities etc.

We work across the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is because we believe that the 17 SDGs are all intertwined and interwoven. In this regard, we work to promote children education, youth leadership, gender equality, women economic empowerment, democracy, sustainability etc.

As an organization, we currently possess over 20 years experience in working on issues affecting various vulnerable groups here in Nigeria. We have not done this work alone.

We have been blessed and privileged to have worked with a host of donors and they include: The Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA), Wallace Global Fund (WGF), World Bank, Department for International Development (DFID UK) etc.

Our community is indeed growing and now has over 200 community members on it.
These are community members who are enthusiastic about developing themselves. This is with regards to their knowledge and skills. This is most especially as it relates to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Furthermore, these are community members who are desirous to access various life-changing opportunities. These are access to various jobs, fellowship, internship, scholarship and grant opportunities.

Recently, we started a WhatsApp community called “Humanity First”. This is a community, which seeks to create safe spaces where teens, youth and women across Nigeria can talk about issues affecting them. This is most especially as it relates to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Furthermore, we share various job, internship, scholarship, fellowship and grant opportunities on this platform. This is because, we are committed to ensuring that every teen, youth and women in Nigeria have access to various life changing opportunities.

Last week, we attended a Civil Society Scale Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CSUNN) meeting. This meeting was aimed at influencing the legislative arm of Government to do more with regards to promoting nutrition and food security here in Nigeria.
