My Mother, My Pride - Hon. Amb. Adaora Ginika Aneke

If I am to describe my mother in one word, I will call her NNEOMA.

She is not just a mother to me, she is a mother to many. A mother to the widow who has no one to cry to. A mother to the orphan who thinks he has been forgotten. A mother to the less privileged who society has turned its back on.

My mother, Ada Eji Eje Mba, Oji Akwa Eme Ogo, HON. ADAORA ANEKE, has a heart of gold. Her hands never get tired of giving. Her doors never close to the needy. Her love does not know tribe, religion or status.

People see the titles — Honourable, Ambassador— but I see the woman who will remove the last thing she has to put a smile on a widow's face. I see ‘Nnem Oma’, whose joy is complete only when the orphans around her are happy and the poor can go to bed with hope.

Mama, you are my first teacher, my prayer warrior, my strength. You taught me that true greatness is not in how much you have, but in how many lives you touch.

Enugu and Nigeria celebrates you as a leader, but I celebrate you as NNE M — the virtuous woman, the compassionate mother, the light to the hopeless.

May God who rewards the kindness you show to widows, orphans and the less privileged, continue to lift you higher, protect you and keep you for us.

I love you endlessly, My Sweet Mum. May you continue to age gracefully.
