Engineers Europe plays a key role in promoting high professional standards, enabling mobility within the profession, and advancing engineering competence across the continent.

We were delighted to welcome Mr Fabio Scicluna to Concrete & Stone.

Fabio studied Architecture at the University of Malta and earned a Master’s in Conservation of Historic Buildings from the University of Bath. He previously led the National Inventory of Cultural Properties at the Superintendence of Cultural Heritage. His work focuses on cultural significance, conservation philosophy, and reinforced concrete, and he remains actively engaged in cultural NGOs while currently serving as Policy Officer at the Kamra tal-Periti.

During his seminar, he explored Malta’s modernist heritage and the philosophies behind its conservation, offering insights into the values and challenges shaping the preservation of twentieth-century architecture on the island.

His presentation highlighted the importance of balancing heritage conservation with innovative landscape interventions, creating accessible and resilient spaces that respect the site's architectural significance while serving the community.

He explored the project's climate-responsive approach, highlighting features such as natural ventilation and sustainable design principles that remain relevant today.

We were delighted to welcome Perit David Ellul to Concrete & Stone.

An architect and researcher, David shared fascinating insights from his work on architect Gustave R. Vincenti, which culminated in the publication Gustave R. Vincenti - An Architectural Legacy, shortlisted for the National Book Prize in 2023.

During his seminar, he explored Vincenti’s approach to Modernism, highlighting the architectural significance of the iconic Palazzina Vincenti and discussing the challenges it faces today.
