MeDirect Bank Malta partners with Rotaract Club Malta for 2026-2027

The partnership strengthens the club's operations and professional development opportunities for young people in Malta.

Rotaract Club Malta today announced that MeDirect Bank (Malta) plc will be one of its main sponsors for the 2026-2027 Rotary year. The partnership launches alongside the club's new website. The sponsorship funds the club's core running costs, community projects, workshops and other professional development initiatives. This lets Rotaract Club Malta members focus their time and fundraising on service projects in the community.

As part of the partnership, MeDirect will host workshops for Rotaract members and the local community, planned for November 2026 and February 2027. Topics such as financial planning and financial literacy will be discussed. The first workshop date will be announced on the club's website and social media channels. MeDirect will also be the main sponsor of the second Family Fun Run, planned for spring 2027, and of other community service projects planned by Rotaract Club Malta.

The two organisations also plan joint service projects during the year, such as a tree-planting day and other meaningful local initiatives. MeDirect staff will volunteer alongside Rotaract members.
"This sponsorship gives our club a stable foundation for the year ahead," said Ella Samut-Tagliaferro, Rotaract Club Malta President. "With MeDirect's support, we can focus on improving quality of life for our community and supporting our members' professional growth."

"Supporting young people who give their time to others is part of how we invest in our community," said Leo Azzopardi, MeDirect Lead Wealth Manager. ”We look forward to sharing our expertise in the workshops and to volunteering side by side with Rotaract members."

Our new home online rotaractclubmalta.org is live!

We've rebuilt the Rotaract Club Malta website from the ground up. From now on, besides our social media, it will be our main channel for club news, events, and updates, so you'll always know where to find what's happening.

This launch also marks the start of a new chapter for how we present ourselves. Expect a fresher look, clearer communication, and more of the stories behind our work, both on the website and across our social channels.

On the site, you'll find our service projects, our social events, professional development workshops, plus a simple way to get in touch if you'd like to join us.

This launch was made possible with the support of our club member, Alex Birsan from Nova Management Solutions who helped with the website IT development, and the club's Board members, Ella Samut-Tagliaferro and Monika Mozgala, who did the website composition and copywriting. The website also offers an additional members-only panel.

Whether you're new to Malta, a student looking to meet people, or a young professional who wants to give back, there's a place for you here. Just fill out the form!

Rotaract Club Malta was also featured in the Rotary District 2110 magazine this July, covering our first 550 days since receiving our charter on 28 November 2024.

The feature covers what our 22 members have built together: two Christmas gift campaigns that raised and donated €3,485 to teenagers in children's homes run by Fondazzjoni Sebħ, a Family Fun Run at Ta'Qali National Park, a Pizza Night fundraiser with our sponsor club Rotary Club Malta that raised €3,500, and Frames of Hope, a photography exhibition by our Vice President Diana Iskander featuring images from Sudan and Egypt.

Thank you to the district for the recognition, and to everyone who has supported us along the way.

On May 16th, Rotaract Club Malta attended MCVS National Conference 2026 - The Future of Volunteering: Strengthening Sustainable Communities, organised by the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector.

The conference brought together important discussions on the future of the voluntary sector in a rapidly changing world. From AI and digital trust to sustainability, governance, youth leadership, and community impact.

Some key reflections that stood out:
• AI presents both opportunity and risk. Deepfakes, impersonation, and donor fraud are growing concerns, making trust, transparency, and ethical technology essential for the future of the sector.
• Sustainability is no longer just about funding or structures: it is about adaptability, relationships, and responsiveness to evolving community realities.
• One of the most thought-provoking questions raised during the workshops was:
“If a journalist wrote an article about our organisation tomorrow, what story would it tell?”
• Sustaining organisations ultimately means sustaining relationships with volunteers, donors, communities, and future leaders. Genuine human connection matters more than ever.

Our own reflections following the conference:

Stronger intra-organisational relationships, shared resources, greater transparency, and continuous reflection are necessary for building resilient and sustainable communities. Sustainable leadership also requires the willingness to unlearn and relearn through different perspectives and lived experiences.

Thank you to the organisers, speakers, and participants for creating space for these conversations!

We are beyond grateful. Thank you!

The Frames of Hope exhibition opening night at Christine X Art Gallery was nothing short of extraordinary. Thanks to your incredible generosity, we raised €4.800 from the sale of Diana Iskander Photography photographs alone, and with donations from our Pizza Night and online donations, and with all the amazing support we've received throughout this journey, we are thrilled to announce that we have now surpassed €10.000 raised for the entire Tree House Nursery project!

This milestone belongs to every single one of you, our volunteers, supporters, and community, who believed in this vision and gave so much of yourselves.

We were also honoured to welcome distinguished guests to the event, including ambassadors and representatives, whose presence made the evening truly special. A heartfelt thank you to H.E. Dávid Szesztai, Ambassador, Chargé d'Affaires a.i. of Hungary in Malta, The Embassy Office of Hungary in Valletta, Ambasciata di Ungheria, Roma, H.E. Ms. Rachita Bhandari, High Commissioner of India to Malta High Commission of Malta in India, and H.E. Djoeke Adimi Koekkoek, Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Malta Embassy of the Netherlands in Malta. Your support means the world to us and speaks volumes about the spirit of this project.

Thank you to our sponsors and partners. Your generosity made this event possible, and we are deeply thankful for your continued belief in what we are building together.
