St John Ambulance & Rescue Malta

St John Ambulance & Rescue Malta St John Ambulance and Rescue is a voluntary organisation under the auspices of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem.

We contribute to the Maltese society with First Aid, Medical, Fire Fighting, High Angle, Water and Sea Rescue. St John Rescue Corps operates in support of the constituted authorities and provides its services whenever requested to do so particularly in the case of national calamities or large scale rescue operations. Since its inception in 1986, the Corps has maintained a uniformed corps of adult

volunteers who are fully trained in first response rescue and first aid. Recent activities have included assistance in extinguishing the fire which broke out at the Foster Clarks factory, rescue and assistance to the public during storms and gales and standing by at events such as Isle of MTV, Notte Bianca and 5+5.

Some stories begin in the most unexpected places. ❤️

Around six years ago, Abigail joined St John Ambulance and Rescue as a Rescue Volunteer.

She met Nicolas, another volunteer and through shared experiences, friendships, training, and volunteering, a special connection grew.

Today, we are delighted to celebrate Abigail and Nicolas as they begin a new chapter together as husband and wife. 👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️

Their story is a wonderful reminder that St John is more than an organisation, it is a community where lifelong friendships are formed, unforgettable memories are made, and sometimes, even love is found.

Congratulations, Abigail and Nicolas. We wish you both a lifetime of happiness together. ❤️

Following this morning's incident, our thoughts are with all those affected, particularly the residents and families who have experienced disruption, damage to their homes, or uncertainty as a result of the events.

St John Ambulance and Rescue volunteers were immediately mobilised to support the Civil Protection Malta alongside other emergency services, providing assistance where required and standing ready to help those impacted.

We are grateful to our volunteers who responded at short notice and to all emergency responders, working together throughout the operation.

In moments like these, the strength of our community is found in people coming together to support one another.

St John Ambulance and Rescue pays tribute to Ms Inez Baldacchino, a former Officer and First Aid Instructor within the Paola/Tarxien Division, who sadly passed away in recent days.

Inez dedicated many years of voluntary service to helping others, both in moments of emergency and through her work as a First Aid Instructor. Her kindness, professionalism, and quiet commitment to those in need left a lasting impression on colleagues, trainees, and all those she supported throughout her service.

In recognition of her valued contribution and unwavering dedication to the care of the sick and injured, she was honoured with the rank of Serving Sister within the Most Venerable Order of St John of Jerusalem.

Her legacy of service and compassion will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude.

Thank you, Inez, for your years of service and for the difference you made in so many lives.

We extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time. May she rest in peace. 💙🚑

A special appreciation also goes to the mothers within our organisation, who continue to serve the community with compassion and dedication while balancing one of life’s most important roles.

From all of us at St John Ambulance and Rescue, Happy Mother’s Day. 💙

As International Firefighters’ Day 2026 comes to a close, we honour the courage, dedication, and sacrifice of firefighters in Malta and around the world. 🔥🚒

Every call they answer is a step into the unknown, yet they do it with unwavering commitment to protect lives, property, and our communities.

At St John Ambulance and Rescue, we stand side by side with these everyday heroes, often working together on emergency scenes where teamwork saves lives.
