Earlier last week a the Opening Session of Malta’s Parliament, Ġustizzja għall-Palestina, The Lebanese Advocates , SpeakUP Malta and its growing community of supporters handed letters to 68 members of parliament to STOP COMPLICITY WITH ISRAEL, and Refuse to look away!
The International Court of Justice rulings of January and July 2024 call for all governments, corporations and institutions to take actions to prevent Israel's escalating violations of human rights. This means that the Malta government is legally obliged and morally bound to take due diligence measures to ensure that no Maltese entity is helping to create the conditions in which Israel's atrocity crimes occur. These documented crimes include genocide, apartheid, ethnic cleansing and escalating illegal occupations.
We have asked that all members of parliament must demand a public enquiry into Malta’s business and institutional relations with genocidal Israel and take immediate action to prevent further collaboration with this terror state of Isreal.
Twenty two non-governmental organisations are united in the demand for an immediate sanction on military supplies and dual use items to Israel, and a comprehensive reduction in trade and transfers. These include: Moviment Graffitti, Blue Door Education, ADPD, Association for Justice, Equality and Peace, ReLeaf Malta, Front Maltin Inqumu, Grupp Newtralità u Paċi, Inizjamed, Żminijietna – Voice of the Left, Friends of the Earth, Speakup! Malta, African Media Association Malta, Dance Beyond Borders, PEN, TAMA, Il-Kollettiv, The Lebanese Advocates, Kopin, Momentum, Humanists Malta and the General Workers Union.
To date, we have received no responses or replies to our letter. We will not stop until our government takes action to prevent Israel's escalating violations of human rights and halts trade with companies involved in and complicit with this ongoing genocide.
