19th Dingli Girl Guides When you are a Girl Guide... Smiles and Fun are guaranteed! The Dingli Girl Guides was established in November 1999.

The group forms part of a local association, being the Malta Girl Guides, but is also part of a global movement - the World Association of Girl Guides & Girl Scouts (WAGGS). We are split into four sections according to age, with the youngest starting from the Dolphins, to the Brownies, then Guides, and then Rangers. Eventually, girls can become leaders, also known as Guiders. We embark on various projects, help in the community, have several opportunities for adventures, but most of all we have fun and become sisters to one another! For more information, feel free to contact us on our Facebook or Instagram pages, or send us an email on [email protected].

𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗚𝗘𝗥𝗦 & 𝗚𝗨𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗦 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗧𝗬

Our Rangers and Guides enjoyed a fun-filled outdoor adventure at Ta’ Qali National Park, combining two exciting badge challenges: the Rangers’ 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗕𝗮𝗱𝗴𝗲 and the Guides’ 𝗖𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗢𝘂𝘁 𝗕𝗮𝗱𝗴𝗲.

RANGERS

Through a nature-themed scavenger hunt, our Rangers explored their surroundings, discovered the little wonders of nature and learned about the importance of connecting with the outdoors. They also enjoyed physical activities and moments of relaxation, highlighting the importance of balancing activity, social connection and personal wellbeing.

GUIDES

Our Guides put their outdoor cooking skills into practice by preparing lunch for everyone! This hands-on challenge encouraged teamwork, cooperation, organisation and independence, while teaching them the value of sharing responsibilities.

Last week, our Brownies continued working towards their 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗔𝗗𝗚𝗘.

Each Brownie created her own puppet, and then, working in patrols, they put their imaginations to work to create their very own puppet shows.

They had great fun bringing their stories to life and performing them for the rest of the group.

𝗕𝗜𝗢𝗗𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗦𝗜𝗧𝗬 𝗕𝗔𝗗𝗚𝗘

The Dolphins discovered fascinating facts about Maltese butterflies and explored how plants grow on land and in water.

The fun continued with some animal yoga, where they stretched, moved and mimicked different animals!

To finish off, they got creative and designed their very own beautiful butterflies 🦋.

𝗢𝗨𝗧𝗗𝗢𝗢𝗥 𝗖𝗢𝗢𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗔𝗗𝗚𝗘

The Guides started a new badge and they learnt which first aid kit items are useful for dealing with accidents that may happen while cooking outdoors, discussed important safety precautions when building and managing an open fire, and learnt how to extinguish a fire safely.

The girls also got hands-on experience learning how to build an open fire using three different methods: Tepee, Log Cabin and Star Fire!

The Brownies started working towards their 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗬𝗧𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗕𝗔𝗗𝗚𝗘.

Each Brownie brought along her favourite book and had the chance to share it with the others, telling everyone all about the story and characters.

To finish off the lovely meeting, the girls got creative and made their very own bookmarks to use with their next reading adventure!

Last Saturday, our Rangers took part in a meaningful activity, “This Is Me, More Than Just a Photo.”

Through sharing photographs and reflections, they explored self-identity, confidence, self-worth and the importance of positive mental health.

Together, they reflected on how there is always more to a person than what we see in a photo, and how kindness, acceptance and supporting one another can make a real difference.
