🥕🐰 Do rabbits really love carrots? Yes! But moderation is key.
Thanks to cartoons and popular culture, carrots have become the food most people associate with rabbits. While rabbits can safely enjoy carrots and many absolutely love them, they should only be offered as an occasional treat—not as a staple part of their diet.
Why? Carrots are naturally high in sugar. Feeding too many can contribute to:
⚠️ Weight gain
⚠️ Digestive upset
⚠️ Reduced hay consumption
⚠️ An increased risk of dental and gastrointestinal problems over time
A healthy rabbit’s diet should consist primarily of:
🌿 Unlimited good-quality hay
💧 Fresh water
🥬 Appropriate leafy greens
🐇 A measured amount of quality pellets
Carrots are best given as a small treat a few times a week rather than every day.
Remember: just because your rabbit begs for more doesn’t mean they need more! Their love for carrots is similar to our love for sweets—delicious, but best enjoyed in moderation.
