Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth / CARE

Coexistence of Animal Rights on Earth / CARE CARE is a South Korean animal rights organization campaigning for and promoting animal rights, and a compassionate cruelty-free lifestyle.

Permanently closed.

CARE is the largest and most effective animal rights organization in South Korea. We actively rescue, rehabilitate, and re-home abused and neglected animals, run a no-kill shelter--the only organization in South Korea doing so--two adoption centers, and an education center. We campaign for and defend animal rights, fight against the dog meat trade, vivisection, factory farming, whaling, the fur in

dustry, and the holding of animals captive for display and entertainment. Don’t Buy; Adopt

Our adoption centers help reduce overpopulation and promote a Don’t Buy; Adopt culture for the adoption of companion animals. Our no-kill shelter prevents rescued dogs from being further abused, neglected or traded into the dog meat industry. The shelter is currently housing around 300 dogs, while actively seeking safe new homes for them. We also work with various animal health centers to provide medical assistance to animals in low-income families. For more information about adoption, please visit our website:

Advocacy, Awareness, and Investigation

We lobby the South Korean government for improvements to animal welfare legislation. Our efforts have recently seen amendments to the South Korean Animal Protection Act, which now includes much better safeguards for animals, and stronger penalties for abuse and cruelty. The first person ever to be incarcerated for an animal abuse crime was because of the effort of CARE. We regularly run public awareness and education campaigns and education seminars throughout the country to promote animal welfare knowledge and animal rights issues. We investigate and report on a wide range of animal rights and welfare related issues. In 2011, our undercover investigations exposed the South Korean government disposing of millions of pigs by burying them alive. From 2011 to 2013 we conducted the most in-depth undercover investigation of South Korea’s dog meat industry to date, exposing the terrible and endemic animal cruelty involved. Compassionate Cruelty-free Lifestyle

We continue to campaign against South Korea’s dog meat industry, puppy mills, the fur industry, factory farming, animals in captivity, and vivisection from a wider perspective of living a cruelty-free lifestyle and showing compassion for the sentient beings with which we share this planet. We also promote veganism, as it is a significant and effective way of reducing animal suffering. Become a Donor
