[NEWS] BCCK Attends Aston Martin S Range Launch in Seoul

BCCK CEO Lucinda Walker, BCCK Vice Chair Rob Wilkinson, and Beth McKendrick from the British Embassy Seoul attended the launch of Aston Martin’s new high-performance S range in Seoul on August 24.

Hosted by Aston Martin and its official Korean importer, Britannia Auto, the event marked the first time that the DBX S, DB12 S and Vantage S were unveiled together in Korea – and across the Asia-Pacific region. The launch highlighted Aston Martin’s continued commitment to the Korean market, which the company identified as one of the fastest-growing luxury performance car markets in the region.

BCCK was pleased to join representatives from Aston Martin, Britannia Auto, the British Embassy, and the wider business community to celebrate this important milestone for a leading British luxury brand in Korea.

[NEWS] BCCK and the British Embassy host the Ambassador’s Briefing for BCCK Members

The British Chamber of Commerce in Korea (BCCK) and the British Embassy successfully hosted the Ambassador’s Briefing, bringing together BCCK members for a comprehensive review of the UK–ROK political, economic, and trade landscape.

The session commenced with opening remarks and a political update delivered by HMA Colin Crooks LVO, British Ambassador to South Korea. Following the opening, Greg Gardner, Deputy HMTC for Northeast Asia and Director for Trade and Investment at the British Embassy Tokyo, provided a UK Political Update, highlighting current policy priorities and strategic international initiatives. Jalal Yousif, Head of Economics at the British Embassy Seoul, then presented an in-depth analysis titled "Korea’s Economy in 2026: One Engine Running Fast". His presentation explored South Korea's latest economic developments, noting that growth is heavily propelled by the semiconductor and AI infrastructure sectors, while domestic demand and household debt present ongoing structural challenges.

The discussion concluded with a presentation by Beth McKendrick, Country Director of the Department for Business, Innovation, Science and Trade (BIST) at the British Embassy Seoul. She delivered an update on the Enhanced UK–ROK Free Trade Agreement (FTA), detailing key benefits of the upgraded agreement.

In closing remarks, Lucinda Walker, CEO of the BCCK, introduced some of BCCK’s newly joined members who were attending a BCCK event for the first time.

After the session, the guests enjoyed a networking session to connect and share further insights.

[NEWS] On 27 August, we were delighted to kick off the first workshop of the EMPOWER Programme Cohort 4 with UN Women, continuing our tradition of beginning each cohort’s workshop journey with a session focused on gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The afternoon opened with welcoming remarks from Lucinda Walker, CEO of British Chamber of Commerce in Korea, and Yun Jeong Hwang, Director of the UN Women Knowledge & Partnerships Centre in the Republic of Korea.

Led by Ahjung Lee from UN Women, the workshop explored key global gender equality challenges, the rise of anti-feminist backlash, gender-responsive and inclusive leadership, and the structural barriers that can affect women’s advancement in the workplace. Participants were also introduced to the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) and considered how these principles can be translated into practical action within their own organisations. Interactive discussions throughout the session gave participants the opportunity to reflect on their own experiences and consider how they can use their individual spheres of influence to help drive positive change.

Following the workshop, the cohort gathered for an informal dinner at the home of Programme Advisor Ann Fuell, enjoying Indian food, ice-breaking games and plenty of conversation. Ahjung’s two sons also joined us for the evening, making the gathering feel even warmer, more inclusive and family-friendly.

A meaningful and energising start to the EMPOWER journey ahead for Cohort 4.

The EMPOWER Programme is a year-long personal development programme for women, organised by the British Embassy Seoul and BCCK in partnership with UN Women.

[NEWS] BCCK Supports Bayes Business School MBA Delegation in Korea

The British Chamber of Commerce in Korea (BCCK), in partnership with Omnia Discovery, was pleased to organise a delegation of MBA students from the UK’s Bayes Business School during their visit to Korea from 15 to 19 June 2026.

Led by Prof. Stefan Haefliger, Professor of Strategic Management and Innovation at Bayes Business School, and his team, the delegation explored Korea’s business environment, innovation landscape and key industries. The BCCK arranged business briefings, company visits and opportunities to engage with leaders across Korea’s business community.

The programme commenced with a briefing on doing business in Korea facilitated by Lucinda Walker, CEO of the BCCK, featuring presentations from Jessica Bolton, Trade Diplomacy Counsellor at the British Embassy Seoul; John Lee, Editor at Korea Pro; and Jonathan Cleave, Group Managing Director at Intralink Group.

The Chamber arranged company visits to L'Oréal Korea, Siemens Ltd., Samsung SDS, Deloitte and Coupang, where the delegation heard from Rodrigo Pizarro, President and Representative Director, and Sharon So, Corporate Affairs & Engagement Director, at L'Oréal Korea; Horst Kolbert M. Kolbert, Head of Production Machine Business, Asia Pacific, at Siemens Ltd.; Bonono Tully, Director and Head of Marketing, and Wungsik Chun, Director and Head of Key Account Management, at Samsung SDS; Jessica Kim, Partner at Deloitte; and Suri Yang, Senior Account Manager at Coupang.

The delegation also visited Hyundai Motor Studio Goyang, where participants gained insights into Hyundai's vehicle production process, and NextRise, where they explored exhibition booths and attended sessions featuring speakers from MIT and Haleon on biotechnology and healthcare innovation.

The BCCK would like to thank all participating organisations and speakers for sharing their time, expertise and perspectives with the delegation.

What happens when you bring together curious minds from different industries in a relaxed setting designed for genuine conversation?

That was the spirit of TEDxSeoul Connect, where professionals gathered for an evening of inspiring ideas, authentic discussions and meaningful new connections.

The evening featured an engaging keynote by SOYOUN L., CEO of Korelation, whose talk, “The Dots Not Yet Connected,” explored how unexpected experiences and encounters often shape our personal and professional journeys. Her reflections sparked thoughtful conversations that continued throughout the evening.

Participants also stepped onto the stage during TEDxYou, sharing their ideas in one-minute talks, before continuing conversations over informal networking in a welcoming and collaborative atmosphere.

Organised by TEDxSeoul in partnership with The Executive Centre (TEC) and the British Chamber of Commerce in Korea (BCCK), the event reflected a shared commitment to bringing people together through ideas, conversation and community.
