From 15–17 June 2026, a representative of the Adolescent and Youth Reference Group (AYRG) participated in the Regional Meeting on Ending Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM) at the UNICEF Regional Office. During the meeting, AYRG presented its youth-led approach to ending CEFM in Cambodia, demonstrating how adolescents and young people are meaningfully engaged as partners, advocates, and leaders in preventing child marriage and promoting the rights of girls and young people. The regional meeting provided an important platform to share experiences, learn from regional good practices, and strengthen collaboration to accelerate progress toward ending CEFM across Asia and the Pacific.

Together, adolescents and youth are not only part of the solution—they are leading the change.

Empowering Children and Youth to Know and Claim Their Rights

On 06 June 2026 in Preah Vihear Province, children and youth came together to share knowledge about the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on a Communications Procedure (OP3-CRC) with their peers.

Through peer-to-peer learning and discussion, young people increased their understanding of children's rights, accountability mechanisms, and how children can safely raise concerns when their rights are not respected.

The session also provided a space for children and youth to exchange experiences and promote meaningful participation in protecting and advancing child rights.

When children and youth are informed, empowered, and heard, they become strong advocates for their own rights and the rights of their peers.

In 2026, CRC-Cambodia continued to strengthen the promotion of children’s rights and meaningful child and youth participation by creating and supporting opportunities for children and young people to engage in national, regional, and international platforms. These opportunities enabled them to share their experiences, perspectives, concerns, and recommendations on issues affecting their rights and well-being.

In particular, CRC-Cambodia supported child representatives from Cambodia to participate in the Asia Regional Children’s Consultation on OP4, facilitating the inclusion of Cambodian children’s voices and perspectives in regional discussions. Their contributions helped inform policy dialogues and mechanisms aimed at better responding to the rights, needs, and realities of children.

At the same time, CRC-Cambodia and its member networks joined the celebration of International Children’s Day on 1 June to further raise awareness of children’s rights, protection, education, health, and meaningful participation. The celebration emphasized the principles of non-discrimination and inclusion, advocating for equal rights, opportunities, and support for all children, including children with disabilities, Indigenous children, children affected by climate change, and children with diverse S*xual Orientation, Gender Identity, Gender Expression, and S*x Characteristics (SOGIESC). Through these efforts, CRC-Cambodia continues to promote an enabling environment where every child can realize their rights and reach their full potential.

On 30 May 2026,

Two child representatives from Cambodia participated in the Asia Regional Children’s Consultation on the Fourth Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (OP4) through an online platform.

The consultation provided an important opportunity for children from across Asia to share their experiences, perspectives, and recommendations on issues affecting children’s rights and access to justice. It also created a space for children to discuss how international child rights mechanisms can better respond to the realities and needs of children.

As representatives of Cambodian children, they actively engaged in the discussions and emphasized the importance of ensuring that all children have access to information, child-friendly protection and accountability mechanisms, and meaningful opportunities to express their views on matters affecting them.

CRC-Cambodia congratulates and commends the participation of these Cambodian child representatives for bringing the voices and perspectives of children in Cambodia to the regional platform. Their contributions help advance children’s rights and strengthen meaningful child participation in regional and global discussions.

On 25 May 2026 in Stung Treng Province

CRC-Cambodia organized a feedback session with children and youth on Gender Equality, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI) issues under the Sida-CSO Strengthening Project, funded by Sida through Save the Children in Cambodia. The session engaged 24/10F participants from Child and Youth-Led Networks.

The session created a safe and inclusive space for children and youth from diverse backgrounds to share their experiences, challenges, and recommendations related to inclusion, participation, gender equality, and disability rights.

Through participatory discussions and child-friendly activities, participants highlighted key issues affecting children and youth and proposed practical solutions to strengthen inclusive policies, programmes, and accountability.

On 24 May 2026 in Stung Treng Province

CRC-Cambodia, under the Sida CSO Strengthening Project supported by Sida through Save the Children in Cambodia, in collaboration with Cooperation Committee for Cambodia and Banteay Srei, successfully organized a regional training on: “Strengthening Evidence-Based, Gender-Responsive and Disability-Inclusive Advocacy for Civil Society Organizations and Child & Youth-Led Networks in Cambodia.”

The training brought together 32/13F CSOs, including youth advocates and child from sub-national communities, to strengthen practical skills on:
✅ Evidence-based advocacy
✅ GEDSI (Gender Equality, Disability & Social Inclusion)
✅ Rights-based reporting (UNCRC, UPR & GC26)
✅ Linking community evidence to policy advocacy
✅ Inclusive participation and accountability mechanisms

Through participatory discussions, practical exercises, case studies, and peer learning, participants strengthened their ability to translate community voices and lived experiences into stronger advocacy messages for child rights, climate justice, and inclusive development.

ជាមួយថវិកាដែលបានរៃអង្គាស នៅថ្ងៃទី 17 ឧសភា 2026 អង្គការសម្ពន្ធសិទ្ធិកុមារកម្ពុជា (CRC-Cambodia) សហការជាមួយ អង្គការ Khemara បានគាំទ្រក្នុងការចែកចាយកង់ចំនួន 14 គ្រឿង ជូនកុមារ 14 នាក់ និងគ្រួសាររបស់ពួកគេ នៅសាលាបឋមសិក្សា ពួគង់ ខេត្តមណ្ឌលគិរី ដែលជួយឲ្យកុមារអាចធ្វើដំណើរទៅសាលារៀនបានសុវត្ថិភាព និងទៀងទាត់ជាងមុន។

We are truly inspired to share the success of a meaningful student-led fundraising initiative led by students from the Australian International School Phnom Penh, who organized a bake sale and successfully raised funds to support children in need. Through their dedication, teamwork, and compassion, they turned their ideas into real action—helping to provide bicycles that improve access to education for children in remote and underserved communities.

With the funds raised, on 17 May 2026, Child Rights Coalition Cambodia, in collaboration with Khemara Organization, proudly supported the successful distribution of 14 bicycles to 14 children and their families at Pur Kong Primary School in Mondulkiri Province, contributing to safer, easier, and more regular access to education.

This inspiring initiative highlights the power of youth-led fundraising—showing how small actions, when guided by purpose, empathy, and solidarity, can create meaningful and lasting impact in the lives of children.
