Reading, writing, and mathematics remain some of the huge learning challenges for primary school children in Cambodia’s public education. At NFC, we are committed to helping bridge these learning gaps by providing supplementary education for children who need additional support.
To address this challenge, we are delighted to welcome a short-term Cambodian volunteer, Ms. Kim Leng, who is going to teach supplementary Khmer language and mathematics to children in Grades 2 to 6. Her valuable contribution helps strengthen children’s foundational literacy and numeracy skills, enabling them to build a stronger foundation for their future learning.

According to available data, one of the main challenges facing children in Cambodia is reading books, even in their mother tongue, Khmer. At NFC’s Supplementary Education Projects, we encourage children to read, read, and read—both during class and outside the classroom—to help them develop strong reading skills and lifelong reading habits.
However, one of the biggest challenges we face is the lack of books for our school libraries. We warmly welcome donations of children’s books or financial contributions, which will enable us to purchase new books and provide more opportunities for children to enjoy reading. Your generosity can help inspire a lifelong love of reading and open the door to their brighter futures.

Outdoor activities of CSEP children.
Our CSEP teachers organise a friendly football game for the children at the local primary school, giving them the opportunity to enjoy fun outdoor activities after their English and computer classes. Boys and girls play together with great enthusiasm, promoting teamwork, friendship, and an active lifestyle.
We would like to say Thank You to the Director of the local primary school for providing the playground (space) for our children to enjoy this football game.

Children truly thrive in playgrounds, experiencing the thrill of physical freedom, developing motor skills, and sparking their imaginations through unstructured play. The joy of swinging, climbing, and sliding helps them build vital social skills and confidence while releasing energy in a safe, dynamic environment.
