Last month, we had the pleasure of attending TCA Music Across Borders, a strategic meeting point for the future of Higher Education in music, arts, and dance in Europe.

Hosted in the prestigious setting of the "Giuseppe Verdi" Conservatory of Milan and organized by the INDIRE National Erasmus+ Agency, the event focuses on the Erasmus+ programme as a catalyst for innovation, sustainability, inclusion, and digital transformation across the European cultural landscape.

It provided a unique opportunity for representatives from all over Europe to collaborate, share perspectives, and shape the future of internationalization in the performing arts.

The second of my two articles on Bellini and the guitar has now been published in Gendai Guitar. This article explores the reception of Bellini’s operas in the United States during the second half of the nineteenth century, focusing on Justin Holland: an African American guitarist, teacher and arranger, a polyglot, and an advocate for abolition and civil rights. His guitar arrangements offer insight into how Bellini’s music circulated and was performed in nineteenth-century America.

I am very grateful to the Gendai Guitar editorial team for their interest in my research. This issue also includes recordings featuring soprano Sachika Ito, pictured here.

Between December and January, I will return to Asia for a series of concerts in Japan and Thailand. Japan is a country I feel particularly close to, and I look forward to sharing my music and research with audiences there and in Thailand.

The Duo D’Ito is pleased to take part in MAKÜ 29 – International 21st Century Educational Research Congress, hosted by Burdur Mehmet Akif Ersoy Üniversitesi.

On May 7, Davide will perform as a soloist in the morning session, and in the evening the Duo D’Ito will be on stage together with Sachika.

During the concert, we will premiere a new piece by Roberto Di Marino, recently written and dedicated to our duo.

We’re very glad to bring our work into an international academic context like this, where music meets research and different perspectives.
