We are glad to receive the HDFC Bank's Parivartan Excellence Award 2026 for the Holistic Rural Development Programme implemented in Munger, Bihar under the category "Impact - Rural Development - East". BAIF, represented by Mr. Rakesh Warrier, Vice President - Programmes & Regional Director - East & Dr. V.K. Singh, Chief Programme Executive & State Head - Bihar, received the award from Mr. Sashidhar Jagdishan, Managing Director & Chief Executive Officer, HDFC Bank & Board members Mr. Srinivasa Rangan & Mr. Santhosh Keshavan, in the presence of leadership team, jury, CSR team & partners at the function in Mumbai held on 16 October 2026.

Cumulative outreach of over 10 crore lives across the length & breadth of the country is a commendable feat. 𝗕𝗔𝗜𝗙 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗶𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗳𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝘁𝗿𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗞𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗮

The Krushi Sankalp “Improved Livelihoods and Gender Integration through Value Chain Initiatives” Project Phase 1 engaged with 7 FPOs in Palghar, Nashik and Jalgaon districts of Maharashtra and supported more than 15,000 participants with yield enhancement, crop management training and capacity building across agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, water resource development and livestock-based livelihoods.

During the 33-month grant period, women’s shareholding increased from 8.6% to 55.4% across 7 FPOs, while combined FPO turnover grew from ₹266.23 lakh to ₹738.04 lakh in FY 2025–26. Average annual household income increased from ₹75,760 at baseline to ₹1,02,454 at endline with income gains ranging from 20% to more than 50% across different livelihood activities. Women-led institutions and value addition enterprises, including cashew and milk processing, strengthened farmer-owned businesses.

Phase 2 will extend direct support to 20 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and facilitate additional 39 FPOs thereby engaging a total of 59 FPOs and benefitting 24,330 smallholder farmers from Maharashtra and Karnataka. The focus will be on:

Strengthening women’s ownership and leadership in FPOs, with focus on participation in governance, decision-making, enterprises and value chains.

Building viable and market-oriented FPO enterprises, enabling business growth aligned with the maturity, potential and market opportunities of individual FPOs.

Strengthening farmer participation in value chains through aggregation, value addition, market linkages and member-centric enterprises, including clean milk production and milk value chain development.

As a step towards consolidation, BAIF recently conducted a two-day orientation workshop for programme teams with focus on implementation strategy, gender integration, FPO development priorities, monitoring framework and learnings from Phase 1.

On World Food Day, the theme is Innovate Today. Nourish Tomorrow.

For us, innovation is a seed bank maintained by a village woman, a kitchen garden on every homestead, and Nahari, a tribal women-led corner serving traditional, nutritious food.

BAIF Development Research Foundation works with women farmers so that good food is grown, cooked and earned by the very women who feed their communities.

Because nourishing tomorrow starts with what we grow and cook today.

𝗛𝗲𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 “𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗿.”

She sows the seed and saves the next one.
She tends the livestock and keeps the accounts.
She manages the house and often the enterprise too.

On Mahila Kisan Diwas, we salute the women who are agriculturists, livestock technicians, social entrepreneurs, seed conservationists and community leaders, and whose work still goes unrecorded far too often.

Today, BAIF Development Research Foundation works alongside, women farmers across 18 states, so that her name is on the land record, her voice is in the collective, and her income is her own.

Because when she grows, the family, the village and the food system grow with her.
