Botanical Name - Bombax cieba

Here is what she has to say about this tree -
"We met this an imposing, crowning Bombax ceiba on the way to Goa.
Bombax ceiba known as “Semal’ or ““Silk cotton tree” can grow to a towering height of 30 m and more. And this specimen was showing it off.
Bombax is a pioneer species and excellent for restoring degraded lands.
Pink flowers of bombax are edible and birds and squirrels love eating it too.
In those long summer afternoons of our childhood, we used to chase the drifting Semal cotton, white clouds flying with the hot winds and used to eat bombax ceiba seeds. These seeds are delicious when roasted.
Even now, when the Semal blooms, it reminds me the flavor of those simple wild days "

Location- Thrissur, Kerala

"This is Saraca asoca tree, commonly known as the "Sita ashok". It is evergreen tree, native to the Indian subcontinent, Known for its lush foliage and vibrant, fragrant blossoms. It is highly admired in Hindu and Buddhist traditions and is widely used in Ayurvedic medicine particularly for women's health.
The flower of Sita Ashoka tree is the state flower of Indian state of Odisha. Flowering season is around February to April.
This small tree has become threatened in some parts of its range mainly because of the loss of its habitat and overexploitation for medicinal use. It is classified as *'Near Threatened' * in the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species."

Botanical Name: Putranjiva roxburghii

Habit: A small evergreen tree with drooping branches ( looks like and mistaken for Asopalav).

Description: Putranjiva roxburghii, or the Child- Giving Tree, is an evergreen tree native to India. Southeast Asia, and New Guinea, known for its medicinal and religious significance. It often serves as an ornamental tree in gardens , growing up to 12 meters with dropping, glossy dark green foliage, similar in appearance to the False Ashoka tree.

Key Aspects of the Putranjiva Plant:

Cultural Significance: Often planted in, or near, homes and temples , the tree is believed to bring fertility, prosperity, and protection. It's seeds are used to make necklaces for child health.

Medicinal Uses: Various parts of the tree, including the bark and leaves, are used in Ayurveda and Unani medicine to treat fever, inflammation, and digestive issues. The seeds are commonly associated with promoting fertility in traditional remedies.

Names: Common names include Putrajeevak Child Life Tree, Lucky Bean Tree. "

बरगद का पेड़ कई जीओ के लिए एक आशियाना बनता है, काई जिंदगीया उनकी गोड़ में पनपती है |

इनकी जडे जमीन के अंदर तक जाती है इसीलिए यह soil erosion होने से बचाता है |

ब्रह्म देव इसी बड़ के पेड़ के पास रहते है ऐसी मान्यता है |

बरगद का पेड़ 400-500 सालो तक़ जीवित रहता है |मतलब मुफ्त में हम सभी के प्रणवायु /Oxygen देता रहता है |

"This is bael tree , it's botanical name is Aegle Marmelos.
Common name - Bael /Bel/wood Apple

Bael ka ped bihar aur pure india mein paya jata hai . Yeh ek madhyam size ka ped hota hai aur iske patte teen tukdon mein hota hain hai ( trifoliate ) ( leaves) . Yeh ped dharmik aur medicine dono roop se bhaut important hai.

Beal ka paid bahut hard sakht hota hai aur andar se meetha aur nutritious hota hai.
Garmiyon mein log iska sharbat peete hai jo body ko thandha Rakhta hai.

Religious importance - bael ka ped hindu dhram mein bhaut pavitra manajata hai, iske patte bhagwan shiva ko chadhya jata hain , khaas kar Maha Shivaratri ko.

On the occasion of Earth Day, 22nd April 2026, DCF Thane, Maharashtra Forest Department and Team of Forest regeneration and environmental Sustainability Trust (FORREST) inaugurated the Mangrove Restoration Project by planting Mangroves.

Tarabunder mangrove was encroached in 2022 by soil dumping and killing of mangroves in 2 Acres.
Restoration of Mangroves is being done under the direction of the National Green Tribunal ( NGT).

Ngo FORREST is leading this mangrove restoration in collaboration with Forest department, District Collector office Raigad, and Mangrove cell.

The project involves removal of dumped soil, fishbone channelling, planting of local mangroves and 2 years maintainence.
This project is Supported by Ingersoll Rand India Pvt Ltd.

A note by the contestant -

"राजस्थान के थार रेगिस्तान में पाए जाने वाला केर (केर का वैज्ञानिक नाम कैपरिस डेसिडुआ है।) का पेड़ वन्य जीवों का घर है जिसमें बैठकर वन्यजीव भयंकर ठंड, गर्मी और लू से बचाते है ये पेड़ गर्मियों में ठंडा और सर्दियों में गर्म होता है
रेगिस्तान में जब कही पानी नहीं मिलता है तब इसके फूलों के रस से पक्षी प्यास बुझाते है साथ में हिरण, नीलगाय, ऊंट, गाय, बकरी सभी बड़े छांव से खाते हैं

ये एक मात्र ऐसा वृक्ष है जो आज भी नर्सरी में नहीं मिलता है और न ही इसको इंसानों ने पानी पिलाया है इंसानों को ये दो हजार रुपए किलो बिकने वाले केर जैसे महंगे फल देता है जिससे राजस्थान की सबसे महंगी सब्जी बनती हैं ।"
