The aim of education is not to transfer knowledge; it is to guide the learning process, to enable the acquisition of the methods of research. It is not the piecemeal merchandising of information; it is to enable the acquisition of the methods for learning on one's own; it is the provision of keys to unlock the vault of knowledge. Inspirit is a committee, run by the students of Symbiosis Centre for
Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD), Pune, which focuses on quality education of children from poor sections of the society, giving them guidance and inculcating moral values with special attention towards developing their overall personality. Founded in 2008 (as Prayatna), Inspirit has grown from a committee catering to the needs of 8 students to now catering to over 40 students, 6 days a week. We also work on creating awareness amongst parents with respect to Education and Hygiene and make them a responsible stakeholder in their child’s development. Inspirit is an initiative, conceived with a vision to develop underprivileged children as responsible citizens of the society so that they can improve their own lives & lives of people around them by providing quality education. The parents are sensitized to the fact – how educating their children can bring about a positive change in their lives as well as the life of the child! Inspirit tries to bridge the valley between the essential and actual education level of the kids who belong to humble backgrounds of society. The kids going to the school develop their mental capabilities. However, some kids because of the lack of proper guidance and persistence they fail to develop their learning skills and hence, knowledge level remains stagnant or deteriorates. This is primarily because education isn’t a pre-requisite or deemed essential in their life and they don’t have any incentive to take education seriously, resulting in a heavy mismatch between the essential level of education required and the actual level of education accomplished. At Inspirit, we try to abridge this gap. We take care of the entire study needs of the children. This includes getting them admission in an English medium school, incurring expenses like uniform, shoes, school bags, books, monthly stationery expenses etc. and every other thing which supports our objective of providing quality education to under-privileged kids. Many amongst us want to make a fruitful contribution to the society. It is often the first step towards it that needs a push. So, come and join us and be a part of change which makes a positive difference in the lives of all the people involved- be it the students, their families, volunteers including the founding members, patrons or anyone involved with Inspirit in any capacity.
