A warehouse alone doesn't guarantee fair prices. Yogrushi JSM FPC in Netansa, Washim District found that out firsthand.

The cooperative built a 250 MT warehouse, but without buyer connections and proper grading, farmers still struggled to get fair returns on their produce.

Through the Climate-Resilient Agriculture project, SwitchON Foundation worked with lead farmer Sandip Bajad and the cooperative to fix that:

▪️Quality Compliance: Trained members in scientific aggregation, grading, and quality management.

▪️Direct Trade Linkages: Connected the FPC with corporate buyers, commercial companies, and processing industries.

▪️Infrastructure Optimization: Put the 250 MT warehouse and local bio-input lab to work maintaining organic crop quality.

▪️Long-Term Growth: Set the cooperative up for value addition, branding, and national market expansion.

A warehouse without buyers is just storage. Samarthya JSM FPC in Pachod, Wardha District found out why buyer connections matter just as much as infrastructure.

The cooperative built a 250 MT warehouse, but without direct links to corporate buyers and processors, farmers still couldn't secure fair prices.

Through the Climate-Resilient Agriculture project, SwitchON Foundation worked with lead coordinator Ranjit Madhukarrao Deshmukh and the cooperative to close that gap. Here is what they achieved:

▪️Quality Compliance: Trained members in scientific aggregation and standardized grading for commercial markets.

▪️Institutional Linkages: Connected the FPC directly with corporate buyers, processors, and trade networks.

▪️Business Development: Built capacity in financial management and strategic marketing.

▪️Infrastructure Scaling: Put the 250 MT warehouse to work securing price premiums for shareholder farmers.

The ONganic FPO Peer Accelerator wrapped up at SIRD, and it looked nothing like a typical training programme. Farmers graded produce with their own hands, negotiated with real buyers on live calls, and pitched their 5 year business plans to bankers and government officials.

No theory. Just the tools FPOs need to grow, price better, and build trust with buyers.

Farmers in Akola, Patur once paid high prices for seeds and fertilizers, with nowhere to store their harvest after cutting.

Under Ravindra Nimkale's leadership, Jaisankatmochan Agro Producer Company partnered with SwitchON Foundation to build a complete agribusiness setup on the ground:

▪️Agri-Input Center: A local shop selling seeds, bio-fertilizers, and crop protection products at fair prices.

▪️Warehouse Storage: A central warehouse where farmers store their harvest instead of selling in distress right after cutting.

▪️Field Guidance: Regular visits that help farmers manage soil health and adopt climate-resilient practices.

Transitioning rural households to clean energy access reduces environmental pressure while lowering daily living expenses.

In the villages of Kusumjuria and K.P. Rangadih in Hura Block, Purulia, farmers Narayan Ch. Mahato and Haradhan Mahato adopted household biogas digesters supported through SwitchON Foundation. By replacing traditional forest firewood and dried leaves with clean biogas, these families have streamlined their daily household routines.

Continuous field monitoring and technical adjustments ensured long-term efficiency:

▪️Energy Security: Technical evaluations identified initial sunlight shading; pruning surrounding foliage restored optimal digester temperatures to enable regular cooking twice daily.

▪️Financial Relief: Operating domestic biogas units generated substantial fuel cost savings for participating families.

▪️Agricultural Synergy: The byproduct liquid bio-slurry serves as a nutrient-rich organic input, improving soil health and supporting sustainable agriculture in India.

What does better leadership look like in practice?
On 11 August, 24 senior leaders and managers from SwitchON Foundation and EarthON Foundation came together at the National Library, Kolkata for an in-house Leadership Development workshop.
The workshop is part of the organisations' ongoing OD & Leadership Development Program, designed to build leadership capacity and strengthen team capabilities.
The journey began with Competency Mapping and Behavioural Event Interviews to understand leadership and behavioural strengths and development areas. These insights informed Individual Development Plans, followed by internal coaching, workshops and external learning interventions.
Facilitated by Mr. Atul Chugh, with expertise in leadership transformations, strategic HRM and talent development, the latest session gave participants an opportunity to turn that ongoing learning into practice through discussions, group activities and decision-making exercises.
Because leadership development is built over time, through reflection, practice and meaningful conversations.

A Proud Moment at the Howrah Tant Bastra Mela
Our Birsingha Handloom Group Rural Women Entrepreneurs set up their stall at the Howrah Tant Bastra Mela, showcasing their pure silk handloom sarees and the craftsmanship behind every weave.
The day turned truly special when actor and Honourable MLA Shri Rudranil Ghosh visited their stall and bought their first saree, worth Rs 7000. His warmth and encouragement filled the women artisans with pride and motivation.
A moment that celebrates the skill, dedication and entrepreneurial spirit of rural women, where every saree tells a story of hard work and hope.

BIOFACH INDIA 2026 is a wrap. Our FPCs and RWEs from Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Meghalaya brought their best to Delhi NCR, showcasing at the FPO Market Area (Stall M18) and the APEDA Pavilion (Stall AP034) at India Expo Centre and Mart, Greater Noida. The response has been huge. 300+ buyers, 200+ LOIs and business opportunities worth over 100 Cr opened up for rural producers who deserve exactly this kind of stage. Grateful to everyone who stopped by, tasted, and talked business with us.

On National Handloom Day, we honor the traditional artisans transforming India's heritage textile sector through collective enterprise.

In Birsingha village, Patrasayer Block, Bankura, over 700 landless families rely on handloom weaving as their primary livelihood. For generations, women weavers produced premium silk and tussar sarees while remaining dependent on local middlemen, receiving only Rs. 300 for a saree that required three days of intensive family labor.

To resolve these market barriers, SwitchON Foundation organized 50 women weavers into two Producer Groups, establishing their own collective enterprise, Cocoon Hub.

By taking control of their supply chain, these women transformed their economic trajectory:

▪️Business Scale: Expanded Cocoon Hub into an enterprise generating an annual turnover exceeding Rs. 25 Lakh.

▪️Value Addition: Diversified into supplying high-quality raw silk threads directly to regional weavers, lowering material costs and cutting middleman dependency.

▪️Market Expansion: Reached commercial buyers, large retail stores, and online digital platforms directly.

▪️Livelihood Security: Elevated wage weavers into independent business owners who manage local governance and financial operations.

Supporting handloom weavers requires building direct market access and sustainable raw material supply chains.
