Sheela Kanoria Foundation is a charitable organization with its mission of “women’s empowerment.” The female participation in higher studies in our country is still at low ebb. The foundation deems that higher education amongst the female students must make a difference in their lives and consequently in the lives of their families. An array of issues that predominantly influence the poor rate of
drop out in higher studies is the indifferent attitudes of the parents to bear the expenses for girl child, lack of opportunity, gender based inequality, social discrimination, early marriage etc., though of late it is noticed that contrary to the belief, poor parents in India nowadays are keen on sending their girls more and more for higher studies and encouraging to apply for scholarships. Sheela Kanoria Foundation thus created opportunities by offering scholarships to female students with financial constraints who want to advance their studies. Foundation thus strives to unfurl the hidden potential and talent of the girls and to make them into complete and responsible women of the society. It is indeed true that:
