Girl-Led Collectives

Today, we celebrate someone who has held Protsahan close to his heart through every season of our journey.

Happy Birthday, Kiran sir 🌺

You have been much more than a Board Chairman. You have been a steady presence, a wise guide, and a quiet source of strength as we walked alongside girls and children rebuilding their lives after violence, loss, and deep adversity.

In moments of uncertainty, you reminded us to stay rooted in our values. In moments of growth, you encouraged us with your million stories on how companies are ACTUALLY built - just with plain simple LOVE ❤️ . Your faith in Protsahan has helped us hold space for healing, hope, and new beginnings for thousands of young lives.

Thank you for standing with us, for believing in every child’s right to safety and dignity, and for helping shape Protsahan into a community of care.

With gratitude, love, and warm wishes from all of us at Protsahan.

Across the consultations we convene, one lesson stands out: matters. No wonder our teams called it since the last 3 years! 🙂

When institutions listen deeply to child protection functionaries, frontline practitioners, and stakeholders working with girls who have faced adverse childhood experiences, they will hear realities that rarely find space in mainstream funding conversations.

These voices reveal how trauma, gender, poverty, migration, and social norms shape a girl’s journey. They also shed a light on the everyday challenges, care practices, and problem-solving approaches of frontline workers who support children through complex protection systems. Founders share how incredibly hard it is to build teams in resource crunch and compliance heavy situations.

For us, lived experience is not anecdotal evidence. It is knowledge that helps build child protection responses that are grounded, relevant, and responsive to the realities children face everyday.

🌺
Honourable Justice Shri Madan B. Lokur, Chairperson of the United Nations Internal Justice Council and former Judge of the Supreme Court of India, reminded us how powerful can be in strengthening the capacities of frontline professionals across Child Welfare Committees (CWCs) and Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs) is central to building trauma-informed systems of care.

In his keynote address, he spoke about the need to alongside compliance, critically place healing, dignity, agency, and rehabilitation at the heart of every child protection response. When frontline decision-makers understand trauma, children are more likely to experience justice, care, and pathways to recovery.

With his guidance, and alongside committed social workers, teachers, practitioners, state governments, and civil society partners, we continue working to help this approach take root across India through learning collectives and shared action.

For every last girl.
For every last child.

Protsahan’s facilitators play a critical role in shaping safe, engaging, and meaningful learning spaces for migrant youth and adolescent girls.

One such awesome facilitator is Ajatshatru 💜, who leads sessions with young people across our communities with Play for Peace methodologies. Play for Peace is an experiential learning approach that uses games, reflection, and dialogue to help youth build essential life skills. Through these sessions, young people explore concepts of sociology, emotional learning, logical reasoning, and critical thinking in ways that are interactive and relevant to their everyday lives.

Ajatshatru places strong emphasis on leadership, collaboration, and collective learning. Through team-based activities, young girls learn how to listen to different perspectives, solve problems together, navigate disagreements, and build trust. They discover that leadership is not about having all the answers, but about grit and care. In these sessions, we oftentimes design to reframe the understanding of failure. Instead of seeing setbacks as endpoints, the young girls learn to view them as opportunities for growth, adaptation, and learning. Discussions around aspirations, future pathways, and personal agency help youth develop a stronger sense of direction and possibility.

Thank you Ajatshatru for being one of our most loved teachers.

What makes child protection work effective? It starts with bringing the right people into the same room 🌺

It was so incredible to have Smt. Geeta Khanna, Chairperson, State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), , join us at the consultation and share her perspectives on strengthening child protection systems.

She spoke about the value of grassroots convenings that bring together key child protection stakeholders across government, civil society, frontline workers, academia and community leaders. These spaces create opportunities to listen, learn, challenge assumptions, and build stronger responses for children at risk.

Watch as Smt. Geeta Khanna shares why these conversations matter and how collaborative platforms can strengthen outcomes for children and adolescents across India.

Celebrating Pawan, our dance and movement mentor, whose sessions create space for healing, expression, and connection 🫂

At Protsahan, dance is more than an art form. It is an expressive therapeutic modality that helps adolescent girls regulate emotions, build self-awareness, and reconnect with their bodies. Movement supports calmness by reducing stress, improving emotional regulation, and activating neural pathways linked to learning, memory, and wellbeing.

One of the most powerful practices in Pawan’s sessions is emotion-based freestyle. Through movement, girls explore and express emotions such as anger, joy, fear, and strength. They learn to embody what they feel, communicate it safely, and release emotions that are often difficult to put into words.

Every step, gesture, and rhythm becomes a pathway to confidence, resilience, and healing.

Thank you, , for helping our girls find their voice through movement and discover strength within themselves. 🌺

On International Potters Day, we celebrate Anubha, one of the most gentle and deeply loved mentors in the lives of our girls at Protsahan 🌺

Through clay, touch, movement, texture, silence, laughter, and slow creation, she opens up spaces where becomes possible without demanding words. For many girls carrying violence in their bodies as a child, grief, fear, or emotional depravity, clay becomes more than art. It becomes release. It becomes grounding. It becomes conversation with a loving mentor didi in a safe space at the Girl Empowerment Center.

The tactile and malleable nature of clay allows girls to process emotions through their hands, senses, and bodies. The movement itself helps soften stress and anxiety. Sometimes the girls are not just shaping clay. They are shaping safety, memory, confidence, and parts of themselves that survival had buried away.

There is something deeply moving about watching Anubha with a child enter into a quiet dialogue with clay. In that moment, she is not being judged, corrected, or questioned. She is simply allowed to feel, create, pause, and exist.

Thank you, Anubha, for bringing such tenderness, patience, and care into the lives of our Girl Champions. The impact of these moments travels far beyond the workshop room.
