Congratulations, Annie Minguez! After more than 12 years at Good Shepherd Services, she will be returning to public service next month as Executive Director of the Mayor’s Office of Nonprofit Services.

In her time here, Annie has been a fierce advocate, a trusted community ally, and a compassionate leader. As our CEO Michelle Yanche shared in yesterday’s media coverage, Annie is “a bold, creative thinker whose advocacy consistently moves the work forward.”

Happy Father’s Day! Wishing a beautiful day to all who are celebrating or being honored today: fathers, stepfathers, foster fathers, bonus fathers, and those who nurture and parent but may not identify as fathers.

At our Prince Joshua Avitto Community Center, dads and families came together earlier this week for free haircuts from Silk the Barber. After the fresh cuts, they had a photoshoot led by participants in our senior photography class. 🧡

GSS staff joined the NYC Council kickoff at City Hall. History was made! For the first time, the Council Chambers hosted a live and competition. It honored ballroom culture that started in , creating space and chosen family for Black and Latino + youth.

Good Shepherd Services joined city leaders, advocates, and providers at to sound the alarm on proposed budget cuts to youth and family . We are calling on the to restore and baseline $13.4M to support these programs, including $7.4M for programs, $3.2M for the city’s runaway youth, and $2.8M for family counseling services.

Thank you to KPMG KPMG U.S. for helping us beautify the garden at our McLaughlin East Harlem Residence (MEHR)! Volunteers spent the day planting herbs, vegetables, and flowers, building new outdoor furniture, and painting to refresh the space ahead of Ms. C’s courtyard dedication. We appreciate you stepping out for the day, getting your hands dirty, and making this space special.

Ms. C, Cecelia Catapano, was a longtime presence at MEHR, making it feel like home for everyone who walked through the doors. We miss her dearly. 🧡

At our Spring Benefit, we debuted a that reflects a core belief in opening doors so young people can move forward on their own terms. It highlights how introducing participants to opportunities creates access where it hasn’t always existed, and the role mentorship plays in helping young people build on what they discover.
