🚨 US pilots in South Korea dangerously provoke China during a recent drill.

On Feb 18, US Forces Korea held an air exercise, flying over the Yellow Sea and approaching Chinese airspace. China’s air force responded, leading to a tense standoff that could have easily sparked a clash.

South Korea was not informed the US was using its airspace for war games. US Forces Korea has refused to apologize.

This incident proves the danger the US military occupation of Korea poses to the Korean people, and to our neighbors like China.

The US military occupies South Korea with over 28,000 troops, and holds reckless and destructive war exercises throughout the year.

These drills keep Korea in a state of permanent war. They constantly provoke North Korea by rehearsing a US invasion just miles from its borders. They also routinely destroy Korean land and property, and ruin people’s health and livelihoods through environmental destruction, noise damage, and military accidents.

In less than two weeks, South Korea is set to host one of the largest US war games in the world: Freedom Shield. Anti-imperialists in South Korea are demanding its cancellation.

North Korea Today: Booming Construction

North Korea is showing a new face to the world. Over the past five years, the country has been engaged in a serious construction drive, focusing on economic resilience, rural revitalization, and improving quality of life.

Now, as the 9th Party Congress takes place, the fruits of the last Five Year Plan are being unveiled. Here, we take a closer look at some of these projects — from new greenhouse farming complexes to an entire new district in Pyongyang with more than 50,000 new, free apartment units.

These achievements didn’t come out of nowhere. At the last Party Congress in 2021, the Workers’ Party of Korea seriously reckoned with failures in the economy caused by US sanctions and COVID, and charted a path to “comprehensive socialist development” that could mobilize the whole society on the basis of ideology and real gains in living standards.

One of the most important development is the 20x10 Rural Development Plan, an ambitious campaign for rural revitalization that is bringing new factories, hospitals, economic ventures, and grain storage facilities to the countryside. The plan has already transformed 40 counties in just two years, and will continue targeted developments in 20 rural counties a year until 2034.

It’s not just construction workers contributing to these efforts. Soldier-builders from the military and massive teams of volunteers are participating in campaigns to rebuild their immediate surroundings and improve their local conditions.

Thanks to North Korea’s people, the country is being transformed daily, and demonstrating what is possible under socialism.

🐴🔥🌊 BAY AREA EVENT RECAP! 🌊🔥🐴

Nodutdol Bay Area held a Solidarity Seollal gathering this Saturday the 21st, bringing together dozens of community members to ground ourselves in the anti-imperialist struggle!

Together, we made crafts; ate tteokguk and fizzy barley tea; and enjoyed incredible performances from Nodutdol’s own Pungmul Pae, , , and the ‘s Palestinian Youth Ensemble. They reminded us that culture and the arts are a universal language with which we can understand one another and deepen our connections to the movement. We also grounded ourselves in the US Out of Korea campaign and its continued necessity.

This year of the Fire Horse, the masses are taking to the streets, building people power, and taking their destiny into their hands. ICE Out of Our Communities! US out of Korea, US out of everywhere!

Next up, we hope others are able to join us at The People’s Forum on Friday 2/27 at 5 pm for our NYC Seollal event “Year of the Horse: Fires of Solidarity!”

🚨South Korea has sentenced former President Yoon Seok Yeol to life in prison for leading an insurrection during his martial law attempt in December 2024.

But many in South Korea are saying this sentence is too lenient.

Yoon’s coup was quickly defeated by mass mobilization. While many ridiculed his efforts, investigations since the coup have brought the full extent of Yoon’s violent plans to light.

Beyond seeking to declare martial law, Yoon hoped to arrest his political opponents and even instigate war with North Korea.

For the mass movement in South Korea, the objective is not simply to punish Yoon, but to completely defeat the political forces that supported his coup and remain in key positions of power.

Continuing to build popular power is especially necessary given South Korea’s long track record of convicting, and then pardoning, former leaders.

Former US-backed military dictator Chun Doo-Hwan is the best example. Although he was sentenced to death for seizing power by coup and for his role in the Gwangju Massacre, Chun was ultimately pardoned and died a free man.

While Yoon’s trial may be over, the mass movement that drove him out will continue strugglign to build political power for South Korea’s working people.

Today, we enter the year of the Fire Horse, symbolizing fervent change, energy, and growth —all qualities we must model in an era of heightened crisis, repression, and mass protest.

In the past year, the US ruling class deployed military terror in our streets, tearing apart families and murdering protestors with technologies developed and refined through endless wars against the Global South.

But like the Fire Horse, the masses of people charged forward in protest, seizing history, and taking destiny into their own hands. Neighborhood self-defense committees, a historic general strike, and rising anti-imperialist consciousness—these are all glimpses of a new world bursting from the fraying seams of the old.

This new year, we emblazon our hearts with renewed commitment towards the struggle for this new world. History is ours to seize.

✏️ WHEN WE STRIKE WE WIN 🔨

Nodutdol member and SF public school teacher Kari explains why city teachers have been on strike for healthcare and special education funding.

Public schools across the nation are in crisis as TRILLIONS in taxpayer money is being pumped into the war economy, funding the military, private contractors, deportations, and cops.

As our schools fall apart, the money that could go towards improving them gets used to bomb schools in Gaza and put immigrant children in chains.

This is class war on the entire world’s working and colonized peoples. As workers, we can’t just fight to improve our own immediate conditions. We have to fight for a broader vision to bring politics under the control of our interests, not the war and prison profiteers.

Nodutdol stands in full solidarity with UESF and the district’s students and families.

UESF just announced a tentative agreement that includes 100% employer-paid family health care benefits, special education, improved wages, sanctuary and housing protections for SFUSD families.

When we fight together, we win. When workers rise, the ruling class trembles.

Toojeng!

🚨 Korean American activist Irene Cho speaks out against ongoing zionist ethnic cleansing in the West Bank.

Last December, Irene was detained and deported by the israeli occupation for her solidarity work in Palestine.

Follow for more updates.

Shortly after this was filmed, approximately 100 israeli soldiers raided the village of Al Mughayyir, breaking into the homes of Palestinians to physically assault the villagers and destroy their property. This follows a deportation hearing where the occupation openly admitted its goal of ethnic cleansing, stating that their aim is “expelling Bedouin people who illegally occupy the area.”

Irene is one of six international activists who have been deported from Al Mughayyir in the past two months as Israel escalates its campaign to ethnically cleanse the village.

NO WORK! NO SCHOOL! NO SHOPPING!

Nodutdol endorses the national shutdown on Friday, January 30.

We reject business as usual while ICE, CBP, and the Trump administration terrorize our communities and murder beloved community members.

The general strike is a highly effective tactic used by workers throughout history. From Japanese colonialism, to US military rule, to the Chun Doo Hwan dictatorship, Korean workers too have withheld their labor to stall the engine of capitalism.

The working class creates the wealth of society, not the capitalists or their hired thugs.
