RNLI Sligo Bay

RNLI Sligo Bay Sligo Bay RNLI Lifeboat Station is run by the RNLI. The station is manned by volunteers, and financed by voluntary contributions and fundraising.

Our mission is to save lives at sea, our goal is to stop drowning. We do this through water safety education, operating search and rescue lifeboats and operating beach lifeguards.

The Channel Cup Swim is always a great spectator event. Follow the swimmers this Saturday as they swim from Tommy's Island to the RNLI station. First swimmers will enter the water around 7:30pm. The swim is just over 1km and is tide assisted. Come out and support from the prom or cheer the swimmers in at the finish line at the Harry Ewing pier beside the RNLI station. RNLI Sligo Bay

Happy International Dog Day πŸ• ❀️
As we celebrate our wonderful four legged friends today it is a good time to remember that the RNLI do launch to save animals as well as humans. So if your dog gets into difficulty in the water, don't follow your first instinct and get in to try to save them as you too may end up in trouble. Dial 999/112 and ask for the Coast Guard. Hope you have woofing good day πŸ•

Sunday Delight 😊
Today, members of Sligo Triathlon Club called down to the station today to present us with a very generous cheque for €500.
A huge thank you to everyone at Sligo Triathlon Club for your incredible support. It is very much appreciated by all of us at RNLI Sligo Bay. πŸ’›
Afterwards, the team enjoyed a tour of the station and a chance to see a little more of what goes on behind the scenes.
Best of luck to all who are taking part in the Channel Cup Swim next Saturday.

Family Day at RNLI Sligo Bay .
Where would we be without our families who are always there to support us when our pagers go off. And our RNLI Sligo Bay family of Fundraisers, Visits team who work away quietly helping to raise funds for our kits and training.
So it was wonderful to have that time yesterday to gather together at the station for some family fun.

Thank you to Tony Butchers Cartron and Venue, Strandhill for sponsoring the meat and salads.
Also thanks to Dave & Frank our chefs on the day and a special thank you to Aine, Aisling & Nicholas for organising everything, even the sun 🌞
