Our Scouts and Ventures finished up their Scouting year with a Summer Camp camping in Portlick Scout campsite in Athlone last Thursday week till Sunday.
While on camp our youth members learned some life skills, team work and overcoming some challenges. Some of the activities they did were travelling to Lough Key Forest Park in Roscommon. While there they did the high ropes in Zipit which was physically demanding. Then they did Boda Borg which is an indoor, interactive experience that challenges your mind, body, and teamwork skills, this was a very interesting and fun activity.
The next activity was going to the waterpark Baysports in Athlone, they all had great fun at this even though it took a while to get the courage to do the massive tall side and the showers afterwards were refreshing. For the rest of the evening they did a treasure hunt around Athlone and some shopping.
On the last day they did onsite activities at the campsite, kayaking, games, water fight, slip and slide, rock climbing, zip line, gladiator, crate stacking, obstacle course and archery. After a very busy final day we headed for home.
A great way to end our Scout Year and a massive thank you to our Scout Leaders for giving up their time to give our Scouts and Ventures memories to last them forever and all the work during the last year. Enjoy the break until September.
