Yesterday's Circuit of Munster Motorsports Rally went off without a Hitch! πŸ˜‰πŸ€£ Large events like this require multiple IRC branches to work together, and that they did! Yesterday's volunteer roster included Drivers, EMTs, and Paramedics from Cashel, Ennis, Newcastle West, Doon, and Limerick City, not to mention a borrowed ambulance from Kilmallock! Well done team! 🀩

Limerick City first aiders provided medical cover at (and thoroughly enjoyed) the ESB Science Blast in UL this week! The Science Blast is a 3 day event where primary school students show the results of some important scientific research. The projects they choose are meant to encourage critical thinking, collaboration, and communication ☺️

So, what did our team learn? Among other things, The Perfect Ice Cream, The Best Dipping Biscuit, and whether a plant will grow faster if boys or girls talk to it 😁 Hats off to Lisnagry NS for those first two topics!

A great time was had by all. The students put so much work and research into their topics! Their presentation skills are amazing! What a great event for encouraging future generations of STEM students. We'll be looking out for them in future years at Young Scientist Exhibitions πŸ‘πŸ‘

A huge well done to our 16 Emergency Medical Technician Students from all over the country who just completed their practical Objective Structured Clinical Exams (OSCE) in Portlaoise.

We are very proud of you all, and thank you for your hard work and dedication in getting this far!

Best of luck to all of you, not long to go for the results! πŸ‘

Limerick City & Newcastle West branch members provided medical cover at the Munster vs Emirates Lions match in Thomond Park yesterday, last one for the season! We'll be back again soon Thomond ❀️✌️

Large events require quite the crew & a lot of equipment! Trolleys of medical supplies, stretchers, spinal boards & carry chairs fill take time and effort to prepare. We couldn't do it without our amazing volunteers! If you'd like to join us for future matches, consider doing a First Aid course with us in September πŸ˜‰πŸ˜

Limerick City Novice's have finished up their regular classes so they focus on school exams & summer holidays 😎 For their last class our youths were shown some advanced equipment for awareness purposes, practiced their CPR skills, did some kahoot quizzes & naturally had a dance party πŸ₯³πŸ•ΊπŸ’ƒ

We'll see them back in September for continued training and depending on their interests, maybe some duty prep 🀩

Did you think we were done talking about the Great Limerick Run 2026?? Not yet!

The May Bank Holiday weekend is a busy one for the Limerick Area Red Cross! On Saturday 2nd a crew of 19 volunteers managed bumps, bruises, and temporarily lost children at a Kids Run, while on Sunday 3rd, a MASSIVE team of 55 volunteers (totaling 605 volunteer hours, excluding planning time) provided medical cover at the Great Limerick Run alongside other organisations.

8 Ambulances, 3 Tents, 2 Bikes, and a lot of smiles made for a successful day out 😁 Well done volunteers, and of course, all of the runners!! The post-duty refreshments were well deserved!

Limerick City IRC Youth classes are wrapping up for the summer! We're all glad for the break, but we'll be sad to go πŸ₯² Until we resume classes again in September!!

Our 4 Cadet (14 - 16s) classes and Novice (17 - 18s) group have held weekly classes since Sep 2025 and are finishing up now so students can focus on school exams. In the last 9 months, our youths have made friends, learned about community volunteering, participated in events and competitions, and are now certified as Practical First Aiders / First Aid Responders!! Our Youth Leaders are incredibly proud of you all ☺️ The groups are wrapping up this weekend & next with games and dance parties πŸ₯³

We are fortunate to have received some feedback from parents of our youth members, including the following that was asked to be shared:

"Thanks so much for your efforts throughout the year.
(Youth name) really enjoyed the course. She was summing it up tonight - learning with loads of fun, school should be like this!
I was sure I would be dragging her over every Friday, but it was quite the opposite. More than once during the year, her learning was apparent, when she was commenting on injuries on tv .

The success of the programme is a great tribute to you all for your energy and enthusiasm. Please pass on my thanks to the other leaders and I would love if you would share my message with senior Red Cross members.

I will be encouraging future TY's to join up.

Keep up your good work."

We truly appreciate your kind words ❀️

Looking forward to our YOUTH INFO NIGHT on September 18th 2026 😁 That's a date for the calendar! Please share!
