These chatrooms and websites only exist because of the misogynistic and violent views proliferated and excused by society.

Real people are behind the websites and usernames on chatrooms. Real people perpetrating extreme acts of violence, mostly toward women.

Until there is a concerted effort to challenge these views and eliminate these types of websites then the cycle of violence and harm will continue.

Challenge harmful views where you can, report harmful groups and websites.

R**e Crisis Midwest have been deeply disturbed and disgusted by the St Patrick's Day float depicting a commentary on the Epstein Files
_
On a national day of celebration where hundreds of people, including children were watching a parade. Adult people and teenage boys simulated R**e and Sexual Assault.
_
The very fact that adult people, parents and organisers of this parade believed this to be "satire" or "funny" simply beggars belief.
_
To be very clear, Sexual Violence is not something to be satirised or made fun of. It is a crime that has life long impacts and can destroy lives.
_
Ireland is thought to be a progressive country. When something such as this can happen and be laughed at, as a society we need to question how serious we view sexual violence and apparent little regard we hold for survivors of sexual violence.

International Women's Day - Women's Wisdom, then & now
Join us on Tuesday, March 10th as we celebrate International Women's Day. Our event this year is Women's Wisdom, then & now. This will be a space to honour the women who have come before us, learn from their wisdom and for the women in the room to connect and share their wisdom and life experience. The event will start with a short reception before moving on to women sharing their collective wisdom in a world café style format. There will be six tables with facilitators present, each table will be dedicated to a feminist gone before us, that will cover a different topic. Finally, we will welcome our guest speaker, life coach, Gráinne Carr. Using her knowledge and skills she will cover topics and share techniques leaving women feeling grounded and empowered.
This event is free of charge but places are limited and must be reserved in advance. It takes place on Tuesday, March 10th, 6pm - 9:30pm in the Absolute Hotel. For full event information or to book your place go to Eventbrite.

Thank you to MEP Ireland South and TD for visiting our center in Limerick today.

Our Executive Director Siobhàn O Leary spoke to Kathleen and Maurice about the services RCM provide to survivors of sexual violence across the Midwest and the pressures and issues the service is facing.
__
Issues discussed were the lack of a designated Sexual Assault & Treatment Unit (SATU) for the Midwest and the gap in funding for training and education supports for DSGBV services in the Midwest.

Aidan Moore was seriously abused by a teacher at Willow Park school in Blackrock, a private primary school run by the Spiritan order of priests in south Dublin.

Edward Baylor is now dead.

Speaking outside court, Mr Moore said the fact that the Spiritan order had protected abusers was one of the reasons it had taken so long to get to this point which he said was the conviction of just one pa******le for 28 charges.

He said the abuse he suffered will ‘never leave him’ and he encouraged other victims to speak out.
