On July 17th, under a blazing summer sun, something truly special happened at St. Gabriel’s Children’s Respite House. A team of volunteers gave their time, energy and goodwill to transform the house with a fresh coat of paint, creating a brighter and more welcoming space for the children and families who rely on its care and support.
A heartfelt thank you to Myles Shanahan and Michael Curtin for making the project happen. We were blessed with a wonderful team from Northern Trust who were guided by painters Anthony and Sam Frost. Thank you sincerely for your patience, skill, dedication and hard work throughout the day. A very special mention to Nick Naude from Crown Paints whose generous donation of paint made the whole project possible.
What made the day even more meaningful was the spirit of the people involved. Many volunteers have been returning year after year, always willing to lend a hand when needed. Despite the intense heat, everyone arrived with smiles, rolled up their sleeves and worked together to get the job done. The result is a house that looks fantastic, but more importantly, it’s a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together.
Projects like this don’t happen on their own. They depend on the kindness, generosity and commitment of people who care. St. Gabriel’s is brighter today because of that shared effort and community spirit. To everyone who played a part, thank you. You have made a real difference.
