Rehab Group We are an independent voluntary organisation providing services and support for people with disabilities and their families for more than 75 years.

The Rehab Group provides Care, Learning and Employment supports and services for people with disabilities to live the lives they choose, gain independence, make community connections, to thrive and achieve their goals. Our work positively impacts the lives of over 10,000 people with disabilities, equipping them with the confidence, skills and self-belief to achieve their expressed goals. We have supported many thousands of people to transform their lives, achieving levels of independence, educational attainment and career progression that may have seemed out of reach. Our purpose is to empower those we support to lead more independent lives and play an active and meaningful role in their communities through the provision of high-quality, flexible and sustainable services. Our Vision is to be an internationally recognised and expert organisation that positively impacts the lives of those it supports equipping them with the confidence, skills and self-belief to achieve their expressed goals. A summer party to remember ~

Residents, staff, friends and family gathered in our RehabCare Millbank Lodge Residential Service in Greystones for an exciting day filled with laughter, conversations, cake-cutting, and the happiness of people being together.

It was truly a team effort, with our dedicated Team Leaders and staff working together to create a day that everyone could enjoy. Delicious food was prepared, tables were arranged and every little detail was honed with care and enthusiasm.
The arrival of 2026 Wicklow Rose, Carolann McDonald, brought an extra sparkle to the celebration and created a wonderful sense of excitement throughout Millbank.

The group was also delighted to welcome our RehabCare Regional Manager, Jackie, together with our management team, Team Leaders and staff.

Having everyone together made the celebration feel even more special and showed the wonderful sense of community that exists within Millbank.

For many of the group, this was more than a summer party. It was their first family gathering of this kind at Millbank, creating a memory that will remain in the hearts of everyone who was part of it.

The team remarked: “There are some days that become more than just dates on a calendar. They become memories that last, warming hearts whenever they’re thought of. It was wonderful to see our residents greeting their families and sharing those precious moments that mean so much.”

A heartfelt thank you to all our residents, families, friends, Team Leaders, staff and management who helped make this beautiful day possible.

💙☕💛 Our annual Cuppa for Rehab fundraiser unites communities nationwide to support people with disabilities ~

Almost fifty RehabCare services across the country will open their doors to the public on Friday 16th October, as part of Cuppa for Rehab, now in its fourth year.

Our national coffee morning invites communities, workplaces, and friends to come together over a cup of coffee and to empower people to live more independent lives.

Visitors are warmly invited to drop into their nearest participating RehabCare centre, enjoy a coffee, make a donation, and see first-hand the impact of our life-changing work.

In addition, our Fundraising team is calling on community groups, individuals and local businesses to host their own coffee morning in support of local services in their county.

Every cup shared and every donation made will directly benefit our services, helping to enhance person-centred programmes through initiatives such as technology upgrades, recreational and social inclusion activities, sports programmes and horticulture projects.
These contributions help us to build stronger, more inclusive communities across the country.

RISE, RehabCare Galway’s Community Outreach Service, supports individuals to become more connected, active and included in their community. Community Support Workers provide support in both English and Irish Sign Language (ISL).

On Tuesday, RISE hosted a coffee morning in Westside Resource Centre to celebrate Irish Sign Language Awareness Week and raise funds to support the individuals who use the service. The event also featured spot prizes donated by businesses across Galway city and county.

What a fantastic day out! 🦁🐒

RehabCare Tullamore services, including The Hub and Canal View, recently took a much-anticipated trip to Dublin Zoo, and it was a truly special occasion for everyone involved.

​For two of the people attending our services, this visit was about much more than just a fun day trip. It was the realisation of a personal goal. Both had expressed how much they wanted to go, sharing that they hadn't visited the Zoo in many years. For the Tullamore team, seeing their smiles as they finally achieved this goal and re-experienced the magic of the Zoo was absolutely priceless.

​A huge well done to everyone who helped make this happen. It’s days like these that remind us why setting goals and supporting each other to reach them is so important.

You cannot call transport accessible if people with disabilities are still being left stranded.
Today, Rehab Group is launching a report, Barriers to Inclusive and Accessible Transport and its findings demand action.
Drawing on 90 focus groups with more than 600 people with disabilities across Ireland, the report exposes a transport system that is too often inaccessible, unreliable, unsafe and unaffordable.
Behind every finding is a person whose independence, opportunities and everyday life are being restricted.
People left waiting for buses that never arrive.
Wheelchair users forced onto roads because footpaths are inaccessible.
Visually impaired pedestrians unable to rely on crossing signals.
People charged up to €80 a month to travel to their day service because their Free Travel Pass isn’t accepted.
And people who must give 24 hours’ notice to travel on an accessible bus only to find they cannot get off at their local stop because it isn’t wheelchair accessible.
This is not inclusion. And it is not good enough.
The report also features powerful personal stories, including Niall Connor, a Dundalk man who sustained a brain injury at just 14 after falling from a bicycle without a helmet. Niall's story is featured in a new RSA video launched today.
Now, 30 years later, Niall is using his experience to warn young people about the potentially life-changing consequences of cycling without one.
His message is simple: “We only get one life, protect it.”
Niall’s story is a powerful reminder that road safety can change lives in an instant. Our report highlights another critical truth: when transport and public infrastructure fail to account for disability, they can limit people’s freedom, safety and ability to participate in society every single day.
Accessibility cannot stop at the door of a bus or train. It must cover the entire journey.
We formally presented our findings with thanks to Minister of State for Road Safety, Sean Canney, TD, and called on Government, the National Transport Authority, transport operators and local authorities to work directly with people with disabilities to deliver meaningful change.
That means reliable services. Safe and accessible infrastructure. Affordable journeys. Genuine consultation. And clear accountability.
People with disabilities should not have to fight for the basic right to get to work, attend an appointment, access education or participate in their community.
