A charity set up in memory of Evie Johnston helping sick children and their families! She went to theatre 14 times in her short life.

Evie was a TOF baby, she had lots of complex cardiac problems, complex respiratory problems and problems with her tummy. I could go on about the challenges, but that is not how Evie went about things. She smiled whenever she could, was positive and fought with all her might. Throughout the 6 months we spent with her in hospital we learned a lot and became experts in many things we never expected to. Through Team Evie we are determined to use our knew found knowledge and experience to help children and their families who are going through the tough times that we did. We aim to raise money for important medical equipment, support for parents, to buy lots of things to improve childrens time in hospital, to raise awareness with the aim to support families who are in the situation we experienced and much much more...

We feel something special is building with Team Evie,she has inspired so many people and we will continue her good work...

An 83% increase in the cost of a parent bag for families in the Special Care Baby Unit. That’s the result of running a charity in 2026.

Since 2023 the cost of one of most impactful projects has nearly doubled, but the funding pots we can apply for stay the same size… and the amount we feel we are able to ask supporters for donations has dropped if anything with everyone facing the increase in cost of living.

This post isn’t to ask you for more money, or to suggest in anyway our support to parents will change - simply we want you to know the reality of the challenges we face each year running Team Evie.

𝗗𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗿𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲, 𝗧𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗘𝘃𝗶𝗲’𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮 𝘄𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝘆.

Beyond vital equipment like the vein finder, their portable library allowed Harper to pick out a special bedtime story bringing a moment of pure joy when she needed it most, as this is what we would do at home, read a bedtime story.

Other parents on the ward expressed similar gratitude, sharing how much these thoughtful touches helped their own children. We are so grateful to Team Evie and the hospital staff for their incredible care.

A huge thank you to for their support for the Special Baby Group.

After our venue was no longer able to be used we had to cancel the group for a couple of months over the summer while we desperately searched for a new venue that could accommodate us…

The guys at Solway Hall stepped in and saved the day and have provided the perfect venue, in the town centre, with storage for all our toys… all for free.

We simply can’t thank them enough 💚💚💚

Our baby groups take places each month:

📍Whitehaven group - , last Wednesday of the month 10am - 12pm

📍 Carlisle group - Tullie, first Thursday of every month 10.30am - 12pm

The groups are open to any families who have spent time in the Special Care Baby Unit, or whose baby requires ongoing medical care 💚💚💚

We should be watching Evie grow up. Instead, we watch the difference she continues to make. 💚

Being Evie’s mam and dad is something we will always be proud of. But being her parents without having her here is so incredibly hard.

We miss her in the everyday moments, when we wonder what she would be like now, what she would enjoy and who she would become. We wish we could know her at every age, but she will forever be 6 months old. Her little sisters have passed her and are older then her now...

Through Team Evie, we get to keep doing things for her. We get to say her name, tell people about her and see other children and families helped because she was here.

That means more to us than we can explain. It doesn’t take away the pain of missing her - we can be immensely proud of everything happening in her name and still wish, more than anything, that she was here with us.

Every time you support Team Evie, you help us carry that love forward.

Thank you for remembering our little girl with us, and for helping her make such a difference. 💚

These amazing bags, which we created alongside the Occupational Therapy team, are designed to help children spending a long time in hospital with their sensory development. Each bag contains...

💚 Bubbles - Great for children to be distracted, develop their visual tracking skills whilst watching them float around, and for hand-eye co-ordination/upper limb control/finger isolation as the child begins to catch/pop the bubbles!
💚 Floaty Scarf – The soft material feels lovely against the skin, the bright colours stimulate visual tracking and encourage grasping!
💚 Maracas - Perfect to grasp and shake, this promotes auditory, tactile and proprioception! Children can also learn about rhythm and shake it to music!
💚 Sensory Foil - Children can sit or play on the foil, or scrunch it up! There is lots of auditory, tactile and visual stimulation happening as they play!
💚 Lift the flap book - Perfect for story time and calming auditory, tactile and proprioception input.
💚 Finger Puppet - A little character to match the story. The puppet can accompany the story or dance along to some music with the maracas. Great for sensory development and imaginative play.
💚 A Feather - Perfect for touch both calming and stimulating – this helps with bonding, reducing stress and promoting emotional regulation.
💚 Ring with streamers - Great for grasping, gross motor skills, chewing, shaking and exploring new movements!

Full training is provided along with everything you need to provide support, as well as supervision and care from our team.

When your child needs emergency hospital care, packing a bag is the last thing on your mind.

You go with them. Sometimes miles from home, with nothing but the clothes you’re wearing.

Our Parent Bags provide the everyday essentials that suddenly become so important: a toothbrush, toiletries, a towel, a drink and a snack — plus a soft toy for your child. 💚

We provide them to families travelling with the specialist children’s ambulance team, NECTAR, and to wards at the Great North Children’s Hospital, helping parents through those first few days.

One parent told us their bag contained “everything they needed to feel human”.

That’s what your support makes possible. A chance to freshen up, a little comfort, and one less thing to worry about while being there for their child.
