Our Reverse Advent Calendar for 2026 is here! 🎄

🎅Yes we're already talking about Christmas! 🫢 our Christmas Reverse Advent Calendar appeal invites you to give an item a day, reversing the tradition of opening a new window on a chocolate advent calendar.

🧺All of these items listed are part of our emergency food parcels and are needed all-year round. Donations can be brought to our centres during their opening times and our volunteers will record your donation.

We were invited to speak at Whitehaven and Workington Labour Party members' meeting for September, alongside Westfield Housing Association CEO Debbie Fox.

Manager Fiona spoke about our work providing emergency food support to people experiencing poverty crisis through referral, the provision of lunch food through school holidays to families on free school meals, and the success of the Financial Inclusion project.

Debbie Fox spoke about the positive impacts that Westfield continue to have in the local community, including through their nursery (Footsteps Nursery).

North Lakes Foodbank continues to be an a-political organisation and we welcome invitations to speak and engage with parties across the political spectrum to discuss our work and the current situation in north and west Cumbria.

Our numbers for September 🔢

16% of the referrals in September were for people being referred for the first time. 85% of people who received emergency food support from us only came once last month.

We are expecting to see our numbers rise over the coming winter months. Thank you to all who donate to us and help us to continue providing this much-needed service here in Cumbria.

This week we welcomed a team from Westinghouse to the warehouse. They helped us process through our Harvest donations, pack some emergency food parcels and restock our shelves. The team were with us for 4 hours and thoroughly enjoyed their time with us! 💪
