Our stats for May 🧮

In May, 321 people received an emergency food parcel from our Foodbank. Emergency food parcels are designed to provide three meals a day for three days, with food items high in energy and calories to help clients directly engage with their situation.

All food items that you donate to us are sorted and processed for quality checks, and then packed into emergency food parcels that go out to people referred into our service.

On Saturday 27th June, Steve and Rick will be walking the full Ullswater Way circuit to raise money for North Lakes Foodbank 🥳It’s around 20 miles / 32km around Ullswater, with a bit of fell climbing thrown in, so quite the challenge! 🚶🧗

Steve and Rick have chosen to fundraise for us as it is a cause close to home:
"We’ve seen how important their support is for local people and families who are struggling, and we wanted to do something practical to help. We’re aiming to raise £500, and every donation will make a difference. However much you can spare, it all helps support people in crisis across West Cumbria. If you’re able to sponsor us, we’d be hugely grateful. If you can’t donate, sharing the page would still be a big help. Thank you for supporting us."

Could you help to sponsor our van? 🚐

Our van is vital to our work, transporting emergency food parcels to our distribution centres across West Cumbria and collecting much-needed donations from collection points. The van is out on the roads every week and it costs around £3,000 every year to keep running 🛠️👩‍🔧

Our appeal for June ☀️

🍯Jam/marmalade/honey
🍚Rice pudding
🥕🫛Tinned vegetables (carrots, peas, sweetcorn etc)
🧃Fruit juice (UHT, not chilled)
🍅Tinned tomatoes
🍮Sponge puddings (normally in baking aisle, not fresh)

We don't currently need:
Cereal
Baked beans
Dried pasta
Coffee

Thank you to the team at Sainsbury's Cockermouth and everyone who donated over the weekend - we collected 868kgs of food! 🎉🙏

We are off and running at Sainsbury's in Cockermouth for our collection event this weekend! 🎉

Please consider donating an item or two and hand in to our volunteers when you do a shop this weekend.

☀️We will be closed on Monday 25th May for the Bank Holiday. Both Whitehaven and Workington centres will be closed, as will our main office.

In April, 376 people received emergency food from our service after being referred by a support organisation.

Emergency food parcels are designed to provide three meals a day for three days, intended to help someone through the initial stage of their emergency crisis.
