As most of you will know, Su***de Bereavement Support Cumbria is closing as a charity today, the end of June.

We're so pleased that there is now all kinds of support available to those bereaved by su***de in Cumbria and the surrounding areas - that was not the case when we first set up.

Our Closed Facebook Group continues and the SBS website will be online until October, including lots of links and connections to other organisations and resources and a set of Passing on the Baton blogs about three key organisations continuing to offer support. Our closing funds will be distributed to BAGS for Strife and Survivors of Bereavement by Su***de - SOBS and our Whitehaven meeting will be continuing as will other peer support meetings through Every Life Matters.

Thank you for all the support that YOU have given to US and to others on this Page. And very best wishes for the future.

Huge challenges associated with every aspect of this - good to know that there's support and there are resources available to help.

‘Bereavement and pupils with SEND’ is an online resource developed by Child Bereavement UK in collaboration with the LGfL. This free-to-access resource is for education professionals working in mainstream or SEND settings and aims to help staff to support bereaved pupils with additional needs, manage bereavement within their community, and talk about death and grief.

BAGS for Strife is a charity based in the northwest of England that provides peer support for those bereaved by su***de. It is also, like SBS, run by volunteers who have lost loved ones to su***de and SBS has always felt a strong affinity with the team at BAGS for Strife.

As our closing date at the end of June approaches, it's great to know that there is now so much more support available to those bereaved by su***de in Cumbria.

We've been proud to be part of that change.

It's also good to celebrate some of our achievements. Do you recognise the photo? Our Chair, Emily (centre) with Bev Bishop of Finding Magic and Andy Airey of 3 Dads Walking at our Barrow event in October 2022.
