News Update – Post 4 of 4 – New HQ Planning Granted! 🤩& Structural Engineer Needed👷🙏
Saving the best news for last, we now have Planning Approval for our new Headquarters at our site on Stoney Road. Many thanks to Paul Boswell and the team at Patrick Allen & Associates Architects for getting us to this significant stage😊 It has been a very long road but finally we have achieved this massive step forward.
The Group is now working in the background on detailed plans, conditions and various paperwork to get this project started as soon as feasible👨‍🔧
One skill we are needing is the advice from a Structural Engineer. If there is someone who can help us, please do get in touch with the Scout Group.
As this project continues we shall update everyone here on Facebook, so stay tuned in!🏗️

News Update – Post 3 of 4 – Spring Dance.
We just want to say a Big Thank You to the band members of Ed Gasket and the Rockers for giving up their time to come a play at our first Spring Fundraiser. Everyone had a fantastic time, and it was great to see a few familiar faces of Village residents supporting the event.👍🎼🎸🥁❤️

News Update – Post 2 of 4 – Spring Term Activities.
It’s been a busy term since Christmas. The Group started off with new Cooking Equipment for all Sections with funds provided by the generous Grundisburgh Horticultural Society. Boxes of equipment were created to use on Camps and at the Hut and it didn’t take long before it was in use🫕🍳. The Beavers used it for Pancakes, the Cubs at Cooking Chinese New Year food, while the Scouts and Explorers first got to use them on ‘Surprise Cooking Night’ – an evening of creating a meal from food in cans that didn’t have the labels on, so hence a surprise once opened! 🥫⁉️
Our New Spring Dance event went very well with over 100 guests enjoying a burger, drink and the Music from Ed Gasket and the Rockers playing 50's Rock n Roll and Rockabilly Music🎼🎸Some of our Explorers showed their excellent musical talent and played a couple of songs during the event which was great to see and hear.
Also, during the term everyone has been working on the Emergency Aid Stage badges and the Explorer Unit enjoyed attending District Phoenix Camp and visited London with a trip to a Secret Nuclear Bunker in Essex. The Cubs went to Avid Climbing in Ipswich, and the Beavers went Bowling at Martlesham🎳.
27 Scouts took part in the Expedition Challenge. They planned their own routes, starting at Framlingham Castle and walked to Dallinghoo for an overnight stay, then onto Grundisburgh the next morning🥾🥾. A few wrong turns within the Groups during the weekend but they all managed to complete it. We now look forward to being outside more in the upcoming Summer Term🌞.

News Update – Post 1 of 4 – Alison and Mike 5 Years Service. Congratulations to both our Group Chair Alison Banham and Mike Walls our Cub Pack Assistant who have both reached 5 years service to Scouting and received their certificates and badges. During their time Alison has been coordinating the Committee and our efforts for the New HQ, while Mike has provided so many excellent ideas and activities for the Cub Pack, as well as odd jobs around the Hut. Well Done to both of you.👍
