RSPCA Suffolk Central

RSPCA Suffolk Central RSPCA Suffolk Central Branch is a self-funded charity. We are able to run thanks to the generous donations and support from the general public.

An independent self-funding branch of the RSPCA in Suffolk rehabilitating and rehoming cats, dogs and small animals whilst also providing financial assistance with veterinary costs. We rehome a range of different animals such as dogs, cats, ferrets, rabbits, birds, guinea pigs and other small furries. We provide care for wildlife and also have a small shop at our Martlesham Animal Centre which sel

ls different equipment and foods for your animals. We also have 5 fantastic charity shops in Felixstowe, Ipswich, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds - all raising funds for our branch. In addition, we also run a Welfare Clinic in Ipswich, as well as providing welfare services in Felixstowe, Stowmarket and Bury St Edmunds that help families on low income keep their pets in their loving homes. If you have any questions regarding our branch you can check out our website at www.rspca-suffolkcentral.org.uk, contact us on 0300 999 7321 or email us on [email protected].

Raspberry and her sisters were brought into the centre by one of our inspectors as they were living in inappropriate conditions, which is too common with small rodents 😢💔

After arrival it was clear all 5 girls were very nervous, but once they started to get used to us and their new routine they slowly began to show their inquisitive side.
They will cautiously peek out to make sure we are cleaning them accordingly and providing enough fun enrichment, but they really come alive at night time when everywhere is quiet 🌙

They love to burrow deep into their soft bedding and keep busy with creating exciting tunnels while foraging for hidden treats. These little girls love to explore their spacious tank with lots of natural enrichment like logs and wooden arches.

We can’t wait to find them a new home they deserve and their adopters must be out there somewhere! 🏡

From being lone Rabbits to the best of friends 🐰 ❤️

Bluebell and David arrived separately but after a special bonding process, what a fantastic duo they have become.

Bluebell is a confident rabbit who enjoys small amounts of fuss and attention from her human companions. David is the timid one of the pair that will need more time and positive socialising before he shows his true character.
They love nothing more than spending time together, sharing their favourite vegetables and exploring large spaces.

Perhaps you have 2 little rabbit shaped holes in your heart? 🏡

Layla arrived at the centre after a change in circumstance for her previous owner 💔

The transition was a difficult one for her, and she initially found comfort in the safety of her bed, only venturing out when things were quiet.

With time, patience, and a generous supply of her favourite Dreamies treats, Layla’s confidence has gradually grown 🐈‍⬛

Layla is looking for a calm, quiet home with adopters who will give her the time and space she needs to settle in at her own pace. As her confidence continues to grow, we hope her affectionate personality will shine through even more!

Collections are an important part of our fundraising work and we rely on volunteers to keep these going. They are important to spread awareness of our charity, the vital work for animals in need our branch provides and promotes the animals in our care that are waiting for new homes.

We tend to run one collection a month, usually at a weekend, in different locations across Suffolk - from Felixstowe to Bury St Edmunds. Some indoor, some outdoor. Usually at supermarkets, but sometimes at larger venues like shopping centres or outside football grounds.

A typical shift would be just two hours and you would work in a pair as part of a wider collections team. You don't have to volunteer for every collection, just the locations/dates that suit you.

You don't need any special skills, some of our collectors are outgoing, others more quiet - and this appeals to different donors, so we love a mix! We'll run through the simple Fundraising Regulations with you beforehand, and that's it.

If you are a good organiser, we also need help with volunteers to prepare for these events. This would involve preparing the collection buckets, getting the equipment needed to the team on the first shift and arranging for it to be collected/dropped at one of our shops at the end. Our central team do the rest.
