Wealth sometimes looks like more than just money …

It can be the knowledge, experience, and opportunities we accumulate throughout our lives … and what we’re able to pass on to the generations that follow. 💙

The experience of life can provide powerful insight, support, and benefits to each generation … something we prioritise with our clients and their families through Intergenerational Wealth Planning - helping them make the most of their wealth and consider the legacy they want to leave for the next generation.

And sometimes, that passing down from one generation to another happens in a completely different environment.

I was lucky enough to witness this in real time recently as I took this photo which shows former captain of Penwortham Golf Club, Paul Crabtree, with his son Dave (Chef at The Albert Bowness in Bowness-on-Windermere) and granddaughter Jess at the recent Fore Get Me Not Golf Dementia Café at Heysham Golf Club.

Three generations together, with Paul passing on some of his golfing experience to Jess as she hit her first few golf shots (with my golf club) … which were apparently rather excellent too! 🏌🏻‍♀️

A thoroughly lovely reminder that what we pass on to the next generation can take many forms.

And when it comes to the financial side of that legacy, good planning can help ensure the wealth you’ve worked hard to build supports the people and things that matter to you most.

Our Why: A Family's 15-Year Journey with Dementia

Saturday, we lost Dad. Today, we're reflecting on why Fore' Get Me Not Golf exists—and recommitting to our mission.

Our family's story begins with love, golf, and Ipswich Town FC. Dad introduced me to the game and the sport that defined my career as a PGA professional. At six years old, he took me to watch Ipswich Town FC—sparking a passion we shared for life. We travelled the country together. We built memories together. We supported a club we loved, through thick and thin.

Dad's building business was his pride. He constructed with purpose and integrity—including the home of Sir Bobby Robson, an Ipswich legend. He also built the Centre Spot at Portman Road, which has evolved into the Legends Suite and Golden Days café—a vital community space supporting people living with dementia.

Then dementia came to our family.

3½ years ago, we lost Mum to dementia. Saturday, we lost Dad. After 15 years living this journey, we understand the weight of this disease—the loss, the love, the resilience required.

From that grief came purpose.

I founded Fore' Get Me Not Golf to support families and individuals navigating dementia through the power of sport, connection, and community. My wife Jacqui has been beside me every step. Our children Mark and Charlotte are fully committed to this mission. My brother Andy and sister Julie, along with our extended family, are equally dedicated to ensuring Dad's legacy lives on through the lives we touch and support.

We believe that golf—whether you've played for decades or never picked up a club—can transform lives. It creates moments of joy, dignity, and belonging when dementia threatens to take them away.

A moment of grace amid grief:

Mark, Charlotte and I were at Ipswich Town FC's return to the Premiership on Saturday. Through tears we felt joy as the team managed to win for us and Dad. It was so poignant—a reminder that even in our darkest moments, there are glimmers of hope and connection.

Dad was selfless, generous, and proud. His legacy lives on in every person we support through Fore' Get Me Not Golf.

Our new campaign: "Every Golf Club Can Change A Life"

We believe that every golf club has the power to make a difference. Whether through our structured programmes or simply opening your doors to people living with dementia and their families, you can be part of something transformative.

If dementia has touched your life, you're not alone. We're here to help. Whether you'd like to volunteer, donate, or simply connect with others on this journey, we'd love to hear from you.

Yesterday we lost Dad—a man who shaped my entire career and life.

He introduced me to golf, guided me to become a PGA professional, and took me to Ipswich Town FC at six years old. That spark became a lifelong passion we shared together, travelling the country, building memories, and supporting a club we both loved deeply.

Dad's building business was built on pride and craftsmanship. He had the honour of constructing Sir Bobby Robson's home and the Centre Spot at Portman Road—now the Legends Suite and home to Golden Days café, a vital space supporting people living with dementia.

That café became the inspiration for everything I do now.

For 15 years, our family has lived the dementia journey. We lost Mum 3½ years ago. Yesterday, we lost Dad. From that profound grief came purpose: Fore' Get Me Not Golf—a charity dedicated to supporting families and individuals navigating dementia through sport, community, and connection.

My wife Jacqui has been beside me every step. My children Mark and Charlotte are now fully committed to carrying this mission forward alongside us.

Dad was selfless, generous, and proud. I'm honoured to have been his son.

Rest easy, Dad. We're carrying it forward. 💙⚽️🤍💙🏌🏼‍♂️🤍
