"Following a disastrous education, in 1967, at the age of 16, Anton Bowring joined the Merchant Navy as a navigation cadet. Fast forward nearly 60 years, and he can look back on a lifetime of adventure which took him to all corners of the world, with opportunities to travel extensively in Polar Regions. He has worked with Sir Ranulph Fiennes for over 30 years on a number of projects, most recently from 2007-2013 on an attempt to cross Antactica in winter. In "The Coldest Journey", he shares that adventure with us.
Tickets are £8 from Eventbrite or The Longshed Gift Shop.
Footnote: Between 1811 and 1982, Anton's family were ship owners from St John's, Newfoundland. Among the many family owned vessels were the 'Terra Nova' and 'Aurora' which served Scott, Shackleton and Douglas Mawson in the early 20th Century.
