🦔 A Message from Phoenix Hedgehog Rescue 🧡
As well as supporting us with fresh water, please try leaving some good food out too!
Hedgehogs need complete, balanced nutrition to stay healthy and thrive and the safest option is good quality cat or dog kibble.
🦔 We like:
• Sainsbury’s Cat or Kitten Kibble
• Tesco Cat or Kitten Kibble
• Other complete cat or dog kibbles that are high in meat and free from artificial colours, flavours and added sugar and lactose.
Please remember:
❌ Mealworms and calciworms are NOT safe for hedgehogs and can cause serious health problems.
🐦 Leave the worms for the birds instead!
A shallow bowl of fresh water and a little kibble can make a huge difference to visiting hedgehogs, especially during busy breeding season and before hibernation.

FANCY A MEET UP AND A COFFEE?

A few weeks ago, a handful of our volunteers popped out for “just a quick coffee”… ☕

Well… that coffee break ended up costing a little more than the usual fiver! 😂

Whilst casually scrolling through Facebook, we spotted that only had a small ready-to-deliver stock of their amazing indoor wildlife pods available. Before we knew it, between us, and with generous support from Spiritualist Church and Terrington Community Fund, we’d somehow managed to place a rather large “order off the café menu”… and these 9 incredible pods are now ours! 🦔

These pods are a huge step forward for the rescue, and our long-term dream is to eventually replace all of our bays with this style of setup. One step at a time though… a little more fundraising, a few more sponsorships, plenty of determination and we’ll get there!

We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come already, and so grateful to everyone who continues to support us and believe in what we do.

We promised you an update, so here it is! Perfect new flooring, freshly painted walls and washed ceiling. Plumbing in place for fitted sink, washing machine dishwasher and hog bath. With hot water heater. Electrical sockets in place ready for the pods, and incubators. The new shiny units have arrived and being fitted by our hero’s today!! We have wifi fitted now too! The windows have been replaced, the outside has been jet washed. All looking and feeling really good. Hopefully next week we’ll get fitting more furniture and stocking the cupboards. They’ll be more wonderful surprises for you all too … please keep tuned!

🦔 Volunteer Opportunity: Charity Secretary🦔
Phoenix Hedgehog Rescue is looking for an organised and enthusiastic Volunteer Charity Secretary to support our Trustees and help keep our rescue running smoothly. This is a vital role within our charity and a great opportunity to gain experience in charity administration and governance while supporting hedgehog welfare.

Role Title: Volunteer Charity Secretary
Location: Remote / Hybrid (depending on meetings)
Time Commitment: Flexible (attendance at committee meetings and AGM required)
Reporting to: Chair of Trustees

What You’ll Be Doing
As Charity Secretary, you will help ensure the charity is well organised and compliant by:
- Organising committee meetings and the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
- Preparing and circulating agendas and meeting papers
- Taking accurate minutes and recording actions and decisions
- Managing charity correspondence (emails/letters) and drafting responses when needed
- Maintaining clear and accurate records and documentation
- Supporting governance requirements, including trustee records.
- Assisting with annual Charity Commission returns and Gift Aid submissions to HMRC

What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Organised, reliable, and methodical
- Confident with email and basic IT/document work
- Able to write clearly and take accurate minutes
- Good at communicating and working as part of a team
- Trustworthy and able to handle confidential information
- Positive, friendly, and supportive (a sense of humour is always welcome!)
- Experience in a similar role is helpful but not essential. Support and guidance will be provided.
