🐺 Published in 1865, this first edition of ‘The Book of Were-Wolves’ authored by Sabine Baring-Gould, combines mythology with real-life crimes that echo the werewolf legend.

🧛‍♂️ Heavily referenced in Bram Stoker’s notes for ‘Dracula’, many of the physical characteristics and predatory behaviours described by Baring-Gould in this work became fundamental to Stoker’s character development.

🎃👻 Thank you to everyone who joined us for After Dark last night! 👻🎃

We welcomed 103 children and parents to the Museum for an evening of Halloween fun! From spooky dancing with Melanie and seasonal crafts (including charm bottles, fortune tellers and our ever-popular slime) to exploring the darkened galleries by torchlight, there was plenty to enjoy. 🕷️🦇

Storyteller Chloe entertained us with some fantastic tales, including her take on the Victorian classic The Phantom Coach, while our Frankenstein trail introduced visitors to the creature from Mary Shelley’s famous novel.

A huge thank you from organiser Louise to our fantastic staff and volunteers, who helped supervise crafts, steward the galleries, and manage the entry queue! We couldn’t run these events without their enthusiasm and support ❤️

We were pleased to be able to step-in when the refurbishment work at Wisbech Library necessitated a change of venue for this event.
The Museum has a very special atmosphere in the evening and can be hired for a wide variety of events.
