Please drop your items directly to our shop at 32 Market Street, Wigan, WN1 1HX Monday to Friday between 10:00 AM - 2:30 PM

or drop off at our Welfare Vet Centre on York Street, Wigan, WN3 4BY Monday to Thursday between 10AM- 3:30PM

Every bag you donate helps us meet the costs of our local animal welfare work which costs around £250,000 per year

A huge 'Thank you' to all at Skelmersdale Mill 🐶

Skelmersdale Mill has made a significant contribution to a local animal welfare charity, assisting pets and their owners in Wigan, Leigh, and Skelmersdale.

This charitable act underscores the Mill’s commitment to supporting the community and animal welfare initiatives in the region.

Earlier this year, Ian Jones retired from Essity and has since dedicated his time to volunteering at his local RSPCA branch.

Ian’s role as a van driver involves collecting and delivering donations to the RSPCA charity shop situated in Wigan town centre, helping to ensure the charity’s operations run smoothly.

While the local group works in cooperation with the national RSPCA, it is an entirely separate entity and must generate its own funds. These funds are vital for running low-cost veterinary clinics and providing much-needed support to animals in distress.

Thanks to Ian’s involvement, Skelmersdale Mill has donated two pallets of TORK jumbo roll, which are now being used in the charity’s veterinary rooms.

These supplies are indispensable for daily care and medical treatments, and the charity team often allocates a substantial portion of their budget to purchasing such items.

The Mill’s generous donation eases this financial burden, enabling more funds to be directed towards helping animals in need.

Ian Jones, a retired HR team member and animal welfare volunteer, expressed his appreciation for the donation, saying: “This donation makes a real difference. The vets go through supplies quickly and every penny saved helps another animal get the care it needs. The team is truly grateful for Essity’s support. The charity asked that their appreciation be passed on to everyone at Skem. They are extremely thankful for the kind donation.”
