We are a registered Community Interest Company formed in February 2018, who operates in the Wigan Borough. Through our work we grow confidence, connection and community at the same time as alleviating material poverty. We have our work cut out: 40% of children in the borough are living in poverty. Daffodils Dreams is passionate about creating opportunities for children and their families who find
themselves living in hardship in Wigan. We aim to do this by funding children's chosen activities, providing workshops around managing day to day life skills, and providing everyday essential items to those in need. Anything that is needed to give children the opportunity to thrive. Daffodils Dreams is here to bridge the gap between those who have items to donate and the families who would welcome them. We collect great quality donations of clothes, toys, bedding, baby equipment, toiletries for children of all ages. We collect donations of furniture, white goods and we gift these donations on to local families who are dealing with really challenging circumstances – homelessness, unemployment, low wages and domestic violence. Families are sent our way by our network of referral partners – health visitors, children’s centres, local authority family service, but also faith organisations, other charities, and public servants. Our dream is that no child in the Wigan borough grows up without essential items of clothing, toys and equipment. We have established strong links with a wide range of agencies such as Social Care, Citizens Advice Bureau, Children's Centres, Health Visitors and Housing amongst others. These agencies are now referring families on a regular basis, and there is no shortage of equipment for us to pass on to needy families. We are also known as a haven for accessing emergency equipment when it is needed following an event that wasn't anticipated.
