We caught up with Leon Grieveson, who is currently gaining valuable sea-going experience aboard former students vessel out of Whitby. 🚤⚓

While Leon awaits his placement aboard pair trawlers, Joe — now a skipper and vessel owner himself — is keeping him busy, sharing knowledge, and helping him build the skills that only time at sea can provide. 💪🦞

It’s fantastic to see the full circle of fishing careers in action: from student to professional, learning from those who once sat in the very same classroom. 📚➡️🌊

Under the watchful eye of skipper Richard aboard Pots of Plenty, Kieran is rapidly picking up the vital skills needed for a successful career at sea. Today he’s getting hands-on experience repairing lobster pots, and Richard is incredibly impressed with how quickly he’s learning and developing.

This is exactly the kind of mentoring, encouragement, and knowledge-sharing that helps secure the future of our fishing industry. A huge thank you to Richard and everyone at Pots of Plenty for investing in the next generation.

Back with Drew aboard Halcyon as he sorts through another haul, picking out the prized scallop bounty 🐚⚓️

Drew has really taken to his role aboard Halcyon, stepping up, taking on new responsibilities and continuing to expand his skill set every trip out at sea 👏

⚓️ “Genuinely a feeling I’ll never get over.”

We caught up with Jayden aboard Aquarius II after an incredible trip fishing out of Fraserburgh, Scotland. Not only has the crew brought in a strong catch, but they’ve built a solid team along the way 💪🌊

There’s really no other job like this — real opportunity, strong teamwork, and experiences you simply won’t find ashore.

🌅⚓️ 4AM starts, aching eyes, and wandering around Scarborough like a zombie… Kieran’s now seeing sunrises most people only dream about! 🧟‍♂️😂🚤

His first week aboard Pots of Plenty has been a big adjustment, but despite the early alarms and tiredness, he’s having an amazing time out at sea 🌊🐟

Reports from the crew and skipper say he’s got the right attitude — and that makes all the difference in this industry 💪👏

The body clock might still be trying to figure out what’s going on, but Kieran’s getting stuck in, learning fast, and proving himself every day. At this rate, he’ll soon be telling everyone sunrise is his favourite part of the day… whether he likes it or not! 😅🌅

This week Drew aboard Halcyon landed into Scarborough and was met by fellow student Kieran from Pots of Plenty 🤝 Great to see the next generation of the fishing industry working together, grafting hard, and getting the job done 💪🌊
