During our trip, resting was very important. This was Simon Osborne; after a long morning of foiling, he was even able to sleep next to my wetsuit boots! I am sure he doesn't mind me posting this one :)

A typical morning drive from where we were camping/parked to the beach. Thanks to Dan from Northern Outdoor for the local knowledge on this day 💪

We made it to Scotland today 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿. That’s 1,726km foiling from Cornwall, resulting from five weeks of waking up every day and foiling from wherever we finished the day before. We spent seven days off the water due to storms. The longest day was 130km, and the shortest was 0km. We have no support driver for the last five planned days so this is the end of the project (for now). We are delighted to have gotten as far as we did, and have learned a great deal along the way.

We are very grateful to everyone who has donated to Cancer Research UK, raising money for this worthwhile cause. We have shared waves with fantastic wildlife and experienced lots of spectacular landscapes. Thank you everyone who has sent us messages of support and especially all those wonderful people who have helped us along the way ❤️
Special thanks to the following organisations without which this project would not have been possable:
Foil Drive for the load of two kits for safety
Dominic Hoskins from Foil Drive Europe for all his expert advice, support and loan of kit
Ultra Sport Europe for the loan of the BBTalkin intercom units
Decathlon UK for the delicious sports snacks
AFS Foils for the replacement 6m wing
Salty Gecko Designs for the website and logo
The Sign Shop Penryn for the van sign writing
C-SKINS wetsuits for our wetsuits
NRS for the drysuits
Slingshot Wind & Wave UK for help with wings
Moulded For Your Ears for Steve’s replacement ear plugs

Thursday’s update

03/10/2024

Dominic Hoskyns from Foil Drive Europe recorded a fun podcast with us a couple of days ago. The podcast is all about the planning, preparation and reality of trying to foil 3,500km around the coast of Britain.
Let us know what you think 🤔

We want to give a big shout-out to Sally Staton (and Maggie the spaniel), our support team, for the last week and a half. They still has a few days left, and their shift has been quite different from that of the other drivers, as we have been stuck on shore most of the time, thank you Sally 👍

We log our route plan each day before setting off on the Royal Yachting Association SafeTrx App. We also call the coastguard to inform them of our plans, but they nearly always ask that we use Safetrx while on the water, as it allows them to see and contact us should they receive a call from a concerned member of the public. This short clip shows just how quick and easy it is to use.

Do you have a question? Why not join us tonight for the Facebook live Q&A at 2030.

Thanks for all the support from Foil Drive, AFS Foils C-SKINS Decathlon UK Slingshot Wind & Wave UK Ultra Sport Europe and all the amazing people we have met so far

Mainland Britain has almost 18,000km of coastline according to the Ordnance Survey – 17,819km or 11,072 miles to be precise. How you come to that figure isn’t easy though, because of tides, how accurately you measure it, and what you class as the mainland. What’s even harder than getting an ac...

We looked at the conditions this morning in case the forecast was wrong, but it’s still
unsafe to get back on the water. We may have to wait in Whitby until Friday before the sea calms down and the wind is suitable to continue.
