What to do when the weathers hot?

Have a go at singing our songs of course! Some were nervous but most had a great time trying this out 🎤

We also had some fun trying some improvisation out; learning to listen to each other to create a tune off the cuff which turned out great! 🎶 ☀️

The Batida crew has had lots of new players join during 2026, so this means parade training! Walking with those large drums in front of your legs is hard, and certainly provides a work out for everyone 💪🏻

This glorious weather is getting us excited for our summer of gigs! ☀️

We’ve been working hard this winter to create new music, from adding new rhythms into some of our existing songs to rejuvenate them, to a whole new song which we can’t wait to perform to the public!

A fabulous workshop today with Sophia Best, teaching some of the drummers how to samba dance!

Hips were shaking and feet were moving whilst everyone learnt the moves and a routine - and realised how talented Sophia and other Brazilian dancers are to make it look so effortless!

The Batida team joined Locking Stumps Community Primary School for this week!

Our Amazon rainforest band entertained in the playground for the animal and eco friendly themed book day, and then spent the day teaching samba across school using recycled instruments.

Samba bands were formed in each class using items from our kitchens, learning Brazilian rhythms, intro’s, breaks and working together as teams. We had a great day and loved meeting the budding future musicians of Locking Stumps!

A new Batida record with 42 drummers playing at Thursdays session 🎉 and what an awesome sound it was! A lovely mix of experienced players and new learners, and we spent the evening practising new music and getting the rhythms into our muscle memory.
