Always wanted to join a drumming group? Seen us at a gig and thought you’d like to be a part of it?

✨ Join us on our Beginners Workshop NEXT WEEK! ✨

This is the perfect opportunity for new players to join our band. Our Beginners Workshop breaks down a selection of our rhythms in an easy to learn way, takes things slowly and gives you a perfect opportunity to learn amongst other beginners.

If you’ve previously felt too nervous to join the main band and our more experienced players then this is for you! The workshop will enable you to see what it’s all about, and try something new amongst a welcoming and friendly team of tutors led by Batida Rio directors Lorna and Matt!

✨ BATIDA RIO COMMUNITY AWARD ✨

As part of our 5th birthday celebrations 🎉 we wanted to introduce something that would celebrate the people in our community that make Batida Rio the wonderful group it is!

The Batida Rio Community Award acknowledges and thanks our members who have made a significant contribution to the group, make a positive difference to others, and embody the welcoming and community spirit of Batida Rio. Our members nominated those who they felt most contributed to those values 💜

Many, MANY nominations came in, and how wonderful they were too! It was truly lovely to hear how appreciated so many of our group are and the wonderful things they do for each other, and we shared these nominations at our 5th birthday party last week 🎤

Ultimately though, there had to be a winner of our very first Community Award, and so we wish a huge CONGRATULATIONS to:

✨✨✨ ALISON! ✨✨✨

Alison was nominated many times, for her creative work with our batik flags, face paints and choreography along with how she always goes the extra mile to help others, make new starters feel welcome, and give guidance on rhythms and kit.

Alison, this is a well deserved award and we thank you for all your contributions towards making Batida Rio the special community it is today! 👏🏻 👏🏻 👏🏻
